Chumpchange0001 on Criss Angel LevitationStunts performed by Criss Angel will either make you say "ouch", " no way", "crazy", or perhaps all three. His performances defy death and bring the meaning of "endurance" to the next level. He is an amazingly talented illusionist and escape artist, but also has the mind-over-matter ability to block out pain. I enjoy his show "Supernatural" on A&E because his routines are creative and explosive. He pours his eerie and intelligent demeanor into the show, and I believe his interesting personality is responsible for his rising popularity. Many compare him to David Blaine in a sense that each are known for their levitation. I believe Criss has got more amazing stunts up his sleeve and has the potential to be the most well-known magician in the world. His "Supernatural" DVD is well worth checking out. Criss Angel Mindfreak on TLCCriss Angel attempts to walk down the side of a building. These stunts and illusions should not be attempted by anyone, anytime. Criss Angel says he wants to fight the fear of falling head on. Criss Angel is inspired by both movies and magic. Criss Angel is in Santa Monica, he uses a borrowed quarter and has a woman sign it. Next Angel borrows a soda and takes the quarter. The soda is still sealed but you can hear the quarter inside. Criss Angel pours the soda out and the quarter is still inside. Criss puts the signed quarter on the hand of the woman. The Aladdin gave hotel a bunch of hotel rooms and allowed him to do his stunt. Angel says that the wind factors are huge. Criss is 51 stories (over 500 feet) above the ground. Criss Angel's brother is quite nervous. The authorities arrive, thinking Criss Angel is a jumper. Both the fire department and the police arrive. Criss sees 2 ladies in the parking lot. Angel unlocks the trash and has 2 guys examine the chain. Putting the chain around his neck, Criss Angel has each man take one end. Angel tells the men to pull on 3. Criss Angel manages to escape with some redness on his neck. Angel knocks on some glass and says a solid cannot pass through a solid unless it was really liquid. Criss gets a large piece of paper from the trash. 2 volunteers hold the paper over the glass. In one continuous shot Criss goes inside but puts his hand through the paper, next we see the foot of Criss Angel. Finally, Criss Angel appears through the paper then hits the solid glass. 2 doves come from Criss towards the camera. Angel continues to discuss the building walk. Wanting to warm up, Criss Angel says he wants to start with a smaller building. Criss Angel is shown going down a building with an umbrella. Costa ( Criss' brother ) says that it is a useless feeling watching. A consultant says that he thinks Criss Angel likes the adrenalin rush. Spectators watch Criss Angel and say, "there is no way that's possible." Criss Angel explains that in 1908 Houdini performed the milk can escape. We see Lance Burton of the Monte Carlo. Angel explains that Houdini made things look dangerous but really they were not. The Wine Barrel preperation is shown at the Aladdin. Criss Angel borrows some folks and has them confirm one continuos shot. The barrel is small, Criss Angel barely fits. We see the hands of Angel on the top of the barrel. Angel attempts to hold his breath 2 and a half minutes in the pool for training. Angel explains that Houdini connected to people on an emotional level. It appears that Criss Angel turns a woman's water into beer. Criss' brother JD makes an appearance. Criss Angel explains that Houdini would not do this, it is way too dangerous. The announcer asks, "Will Criss surpass Houdini or die trying?" One the way to the hotel the Criss Angel rv has an issue. Criss entertains the bus passengers with a deck of cards. Criss has an audience member sign a card and shuffle it back in the deck. She confirms with Criss that the card is in the deck. Angel throws the cards on the wind shield and the signed card appears to be outside the bus. Criss Angel tells the bus to stop and goes outside to get the card. The first attempt does not work, Criss Angel explains that the water is too cold. An hour later Criss gets in the barrel (with warm water) and the lid goes on. Criss gives the signal to abort. An hour later Criss tries a third time. The two minute countdown is shown on screen. The top camera shows Criss working on the cuffs. The announcer reminds us that Criss has to hook himself up to the safety line or he'll fall. There are less than 30 seconds and the cuffs are free. The barrel goes and then Criss comes afterwards with the safety line. Lance Burton explains that Criss Angel will go down in the history books as one of the great magicians of the 21st century. Criss Angel Mindfreak - Chicken on A&EHere is what A&E says about the Chicken episode of Mindfreak:"Trying to prove which person is crazier, Criss and his comedy magician good friend, the Amazing Jonathan decide to play the ultimate game of chicken. Their rivalry begins with a small paintball game and an electric shock face off. Criss ups the ante daring Amazing Jonathan to hit him with a car. Criss trains with Mark Chadwick to learn how to deflect the impact of a car. The competition culminates with Criss standing in front of a brick wall as Amazing Jonathan revs his engine. After one false run, Amazing Jonathan barrels into Criss pushing through the brick wall. In this episode, Criss also performs a knife test in a sushi bar that could end his career. " Criss Angel Knife stunts are dangerous! Do not attempt. Criss Angel Mindfreak - Burned Alive on A&EHere is what A&E says about the Burned Alive episode of Mindfreak: "Facing one of our biggest fears, Criss attempts to be burned alive. With the assistance of Hollywood special FX wizard and "burn master" Mark Chadwick, Criss sets up a spectacular stunt where he is set ablaze two different times. First a partial body burn test by the Aladdin Hotel pool in Las Vegas, that lasts over 20 seconds. Then a full 46 sec. body burn with no hands or face protection that shoots 20 ft. flames off Criss at temperatures above 1500 degrees in front of a huge crowd on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas." Criss Angel Fire stunts are dangerous! Do not attempt. Criss Angel Mindfreak - Hellstromism on A&EHere is what A&E says about the Hellstromism episode of Mindfreak:"Based on hellstromism, an art that uses the mind to trigger a spectator's physical reaction, Criss is challenged by Las Vegas' Desert Dodge dealership to find a hidden key belonging to a Dodge Viper using hellstromism. If unable to find the key Criss will have to give the dealership $100,000 for the car, otherwise he will take the car home for free. " A free $100,000 car? Not bad for a days work. Criss Angel Discussing LevitationIn the Oasis episode of the Mindfreak series on A&E Criss Angel discusses levitation but it is different from the David Blaine levitation in that David Blaine levitates himself while Criss Angel's levitation is with a third person. In other words Criss Angel levitates someone else, not himself. Here is the quote directly from Criss, "when I levitate someone in Las Vegas on Freemont Street you've got to be right on or else you're all over the internet." As Criss says that they show a figure in a horizontal posture which is another differnce from the David Blaine levitation.Criss Angel Levitation TalkEverybody wants to do the Criss Angel levitation after seeing Criss perform on tv. I think Criss Angel is a great ellusionist, it is cool to see folks interested in magic after seeing Angel do his levitation. Yes, levitation is a lot different from the card tricks we discuss but it is still an art. Like card tricks, the Criss Angel levitation is effective because the proper techniques are used to warm up the audience. Here is a forum thread that discusses the Criss Angel levitation: Click Here to add your thoughts to the topic below:Posted by Nathan on July 21, 2005 at 15:04
umm, yeh, i saw his show yesterday...and i saw him float! how does he do it so high, i mean i know how to do the kings rising and balducci but how does he do that! i would defenatly pay to learn that, any references, not asking for exposure...just if he has a dvd or anythign....anyway see ya
Posted by Sreename on July 21, 2005 at 16:02
I didnt see it, but if it is what I think it is you wll need a hell lot of money to arrange that..
Posted by marpenothi on July 21, 2005 at 19:45
If any of you have read the new Genii magazine issue, it has a special section about him....I could not believe my eyes seeing that guy hang from a helicopter with those chains stuck into his back. Thats not really magic thats just being insane Posted by Maverick on July 21, 2005 at 21:29
his tricks are pretty good i must say and they are more imressive than david Blaine's things his levitation was definitly highest i have ever seen in the streets
Posted by endeffects on July 21, 2005 at 22:42
Blaine's show were edited though. Some shots you can clearly see that he is not using the Balducci levitation. In a few shots of Blaine doing the levitation he is clearly off the ground by about a foot. I have heard people claim Blaine showed two different types to the spectators and then edited to get reactions for the most impressive levitation.
Posted by Sreename on July 22, 2005 at 03:01
I wouldnt say Blaine hasnt got personalty. I think he's a geninius to have created the character he did. He has the mystified look... He knows how to direcr en misled people by getting there attention with magic and he knows pretty cool tricks too... So I think Blaine's got personnalty... Sreen Posted by jonjo on July 22, 2005 at 03:39
I heard the same things as endeffects. What would lead to me beleive they're thru is that the man Floated like 2 feet up thats not possible!

Criss Angel's levitation was edited aswell... Posted by larrylum on July 24, 2005 at 14:10
Great, i finally seen his show and so i can write something abt him.
Posted by Nathan on July 24, 2005 at 14:17 i am finally understandign that the how u perform it...... Posted by Sandpiper-N121PP on July 26, 2005 at 00:46 I saw his show last week and I must say he is a great illusionist. I used to study magic at a very young age and know some of the basic card and slight of hand things, but that floatation thing was very well performed. He is an illusionist and does it well. I look forward to his next show. Posted by gsminny on July 30, 2005 at 12:14
Hello,
Posted by riggits on August 04, 2005 at 02:01
seriously, is there *anybody* who hasn't figured out Criss Angel's spectator levitation effect after the first couple shows?
Posted by Eric on August 21, 2005 at 03:00
There is a lot of interest in the Criss Angel levitation. We need to add it to our teaching reviews on the http://www.21ace.com/Magic.php page.
Posted by Freeko on August 26, 2005 at 05:54 i tink i watch the older episodes of criss wen i was like 11 and did not give a crap bout magic now they show reruns and my mom tinks its satanic so now i care bout magic but now i can't watch -_- Posted by jonjo on August 26, 2005 at 08:50
Has anyone see the street vanish he did of himself.
Posted by corey_cj on September 01, 2005 at 22:03 i saw that one, i dont know how he did it, unless the crowd were all in on it, and they got film of him going under the bin and talking to them, and they stopped and then got film of him on top of the building while the audience pretends to be suprised Posted by Chumpchange0001 on September 02, 2005 at 02:27
I like his show, and some of his tricks are insane. However. Many of his "tricks" are amazing, but as Marp said...they are more like matters of endurance and disregard to pain, not real magic. His stunts demonstrate real pain and mostly real situations. However again. He does, just by watching his show with my naked eye, demonstrate that he uses false spectators. His tricks that involve spiders/snakes appearing out of the accessories of "random onlookers" are easily discoverable due to carefully watching one trick. During the episode in which he escapes from being buried alive, they show a small shpeel in which a fat, bald man with a hat barely on is told to remove his hat and hold it high above his head by Mr. Angel. Criss then tells the specator to focus on his biggest fear, and before Criss could finish the sentence, a tarantula climbed out of the inside of the upturned yankee hat, long before his "cue to appear". I can definitely tell by the shady way this spectator removes his hat and the earliness of the spider's appearance that this was a trained assistant. That lasts paragraph sounds rude and bogus, but if you happen to come across the episode, watch carefully. I still do believe he is an amazing illusionist, yet his Vegas show is somewhat strange. Posted by larrylum on September 02, 2005 at 02:46
Ya, U should know that some magic involve a setup in the audience, but by placing a assistant into the audience and making the audience believe he is a passer by is also a skill.
Posted by Freeko on September 02, 2005 at 03:38 dats true Posted by Chumpchange0001 on September 02, 2005 at 09:36
That's a good point Posted by Michael Marino on September 03, 2005 at 13:41
Eric, I just thought you should know, you spelt Criss Angel's name wrong on the page. It Says "Chriss Angel. There is no "h" in Criss' name.
Posted by Eric on September 03, 2005 at 20:07 Thanks, we fixed the spelling issue. Posted by Eric on September 23, 2005 at 20:06 We're still looking for a Criss Angel review. Does anyone want to do it? Posted by anep on September 24, 2005 at 00:24
all you guys' perspective on magic are illusions, setups etc..
Posted by larrylum on September 24, 2005 at 01:21
Dude, maybe u can believe.
Posted by LoyalToCriss on October 15, 2005 at 18:55
Criss it totally amazing. Most magicians forbid anybody from the crowd coming up to them in the middle of an illusion and Criss actually welcomes it.
Posted by LoyalToCriss on October 22, 2005 at 23:20
I informed the Loyals that you wanted reviews. They said they have tried to do this before and it is a waste of time. You either believe in Criss (as I do) or you don't.
Posted by elitesnipa on October 24, 2005 at 19:23 ya this guy is insane, this guy probobly spends hundreds on props Posted by Eric on October 25, 2005 at 00:52
I agree that some types of questions would be a waste but others would be good. Take our Jay Sankey interview for example. It would be cool to get to know Criss the way we did with Jay. Obviously we wouldn't ask about anything that could lead to exposure and Criss would be able to skip any questions for any reasons. Posted by LoyalToCriss on October 29, 2005 at 14:56
That's great and all, but the people on this site are already judging him before they "know" him. People who want to get to know somebody and who want to respect that person and what that person stands for, does not slam him or make snap judgements about him before they get to "know" him. I'm sorry. I have already given you my stance on Criss' magic, that it stands on it's own and the Loyals having read what the members of this site have written about him have decided that you as a collective have already made up your mind about Criss. I have provided you with Criss' official website which leads to his official forum. You may in fact find what you are looking for there. Please keep in mind that we will not tolerate any disrespect of Criss or his Loyals. If you choose to frequent the forum in hopes to know Criss better, please come. If, however you only want to come to tear him apart, please stay away. Posted by marpenothi on October 29, 2005 at 15:48
"Loyal" what a joke...
Posted by Eric on October 29, 2005 at 16:36
This is unfortunate. Personally I have a lot of respect for Criss but everyone here has different opinions. Posted by marpenothi on October 29, 2005 at 21:31
With all do respect to Criss and his magic and all that...I'm not going to miss a "Loyal" like you around here Posted by Loyal on December 06, 2005 at 05:58
I'd like to point out the fact that maybe you should do some proper research and thorough understanding of an illusion before making comments. The word loyal is another name for Criss Angel fans, it is used in its context because we support him so much...now if you want to go around blatantly disrespecting an illusion, then fine...just take a look at yourself first. I dont see that you have gotten anywhere.
Posted by fattyonadiet on December 06, 2005 at 06:20
where do u ppl come from? we dont care, this thread is over a month old.... let it go. good for u, u have figured out wat the word 'loyal' means..... this still doesn't change the fact that we dont care. why would u join this forum just so u can bring up a thread that is so old, it smells. Posted by Eric on December 06, 2005 at 23:45 Has anyone gotten the Criss_Angel_Levitation video yet. If so what do you think of it? Brad Christian said some interesting things about it. Posted by Eric on December 12, 2005 at 04:01
Our new http://www.21ace.com/Criss-Angel-Levitation.php page talks about the comparison Brad Christian makes between the Criss-Angel-Levitation video and the King Rising video.
Posted by Shadow on December 12, 2005 at 12:47 Hmm the preview look really impressive. The price isn't low but it looks really convincing (at least at the video). If someone buys it send us a review. Posted by marpenothi on December 12, 2005 at 20:41
It is very "unimpromptu"...let me say that. But from where the camera is standing, it still looks like Posted by Scooter77 on December 12, 2005 at 20:57 I've seen 3 or 4 episodes of Criss Angel's Mindfreak show, none of his tricks make sense. One trick he locked himself in a tank of water in some tube, and then for some reason he appeared in top of a hummer or something when he said he was trying to stay in the tube for like 33 hours or something. Another one he stood against a wall and had a car run through it....why? As for the levitation thing, i was not really impressed with it, it just looks fake to me. Posted by fattyonadiet on December 12, 2005 at 21:01 i'm not a fan of his...... i mean its cool how he has become so succesful, but i just dont like him. he just spends a packet of money of props and gimmicks, and takes the approach of "look how supernatural i am" it shits me. Posted by guppiejake on December 13, 2005 at 00:09
Hey..I agree with most of u saying that criss is a good magician, but i think he tends to be a bit over the top.. know wut i mean? I saw a couple of eposides where he just rips his shirt off! I mean WTF i get it ur excited!
Posted by Eric on December 13, 2005 at 01:00
Yes, David Blaine and Criss Angel do have their differences. I'm sure some folks prefer David Blaine while other folks prefer Criss Angel. It looks like they take different approaches to the way the levitate too. I saw the tape of David Blaine doing levitation in front of the Dallas Cowboys and it didn't look like he was using any props or gimmicks or anything. However, when Criss Angel does levitation I think there is more preparation involved. Posted by regardsgiveway on December 13, 2005 at 22:25
i'm sorry... but i watched this clip by Criss Angel and it was lamer than lame... it was super not lame cause its too lame to be even lame
Posted by Scooter77 on December 13, 2005 at 23:18
ROFLMFAO!!!! That was some of the worst fake skin and worst acting job by the "innocent bystanders" I have ever seen. That was ridiculous. Besides, it isn't that hard to swallow a coin like that, he made it seem like he forced it down his throat. All I can say is that was bad.... Posted by fattyonadiet on December 14, 2005 at 02:07
yeah my cousin swallows coins all the time..... Posted by jonjo on December 14, 2005 at 04:03
The more I see Chris angel the more he annoys me. He seems to use actors a lot which is crap and is far to excited about being a Mindfreak.
Posted by larrylum on December 14, 2005 at 12:48
Hmm, Well, it depends on idividual i think.
Posted by Eric on December 15, 2005 at 02:45
Both Criss Angel and David Blaine like to push themselves. I recently saw Criss Angel on tv with another magician (Jonathan I think) and they kept playing jokes on each other. There was a shock game where Criss Angel got shocked every time. His retaliation was to pretend that the shock wasn't working and nothing was happening to him. It was another example of how he was able to use his mind to overpower the discomfort in his body. Posted by magicmaker14 on June 27, 2006 at 19:53 hey the criss levitation is quite easy this is me doing it Posted by magicmaker14 on June 27, 2006 at 19:58 can someone teach me to put a video on here Posted by ace_o_spades on June 28, 2006 at 12:55 You might want to introduce yourself, and refrain from bringing back dead topics.
