    Later we see Stefano Pelinga and Tom Rossman tied at 11-11.

    Tom Rossman saves a speed shot for the last one. Stefano Pelinga misses his first attempt and is shown missing his second attempt so Tom Rossman has clinched a tie.

    Stefano Pelinga misses his last shot and Tom Rossman hugs him. Tom Rossman holds the $25,000 champion check over his head.

    2003 Men's Trick Shot Magic - First Semifinal - Baltimore, Maryland

    Mike Massey versus Sebastian Giumelli

    Mitch Laurance and Allen Hopkins do the commentary.

    Mike Massey is the 2000 and 2001 champ.

    Mike Massey tries a 1-handed power jump for the first trick shot. The cue is in the corner, 3 balls are in the middle and 2 balls are near the far corner. Mike Massey makes the trick shot on his 2nd attempt.

    Sebastian Giumelli does not make it on his first attempt. On his 2nd attempt Sebastian Giumelli doesn't make a clean jump.

    Sebastian Giumelli has 3 balls on the 2nd mark from the corner lined up with the side marks. It is a timing shot, the balls must sink into the pocket in the reverse order from which they were hit. This means the first ball is his the slowest and the last ball is hit the fastest. Sebastian Giumelli makes the trick shot. Mike Massey misses the trick shot on his first try. Mike Massey also misses on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.

    Mike Massey shows that he is not allowed to use a golf ball instead of the cue ball so he gets creative and tries a bank trick shot where the cue ball jumps to avoid a double kiss. It does not go in clean but they give Mike Massey a point for the trick shot. Sebastian Giumelli misses on his first attempt of the trick shot but he sinks the trick shot on his 2nd attempt.

    Sebastian Giumelli has plenty of props in the next trick shot. 2 bottles, a stick across the table, a box and a triangle are used. Sebastian Giumelli makes the trick shot. Mike Massey also makes the trick shot.

    Sebastian Giumelli has a trick shot where the cue ball bounces back and hits 3 balls to then come back and make a corner ball. Mike Massey says that Sebastian Giumelli came to play after seeing the shot go in. Mike Massey misses the trick shot on his first try. Mike Massey misses again on his 2nd try.

    Mike Massey has the cue ball curve around a number of balls in order to go back to the corner and make a 1-9 combo. Sebastian Giumelli also makes the shot to keep his lead.

    Allen Hopkins gives us the tip of the day. It is a 7 ball Houdini shot. If the 1 ball is hit firm then the 7 ball goes in the corner pocket.

    Sebastian Giumelli uses the triangle as a prop in the next shot. The triangle is on top of the 5 ball. Sebastian Giumelli makes the ball and flips the triangle up but the triangle then falls sideways so Sebastian Giumelli does not get a point. On his second attempt Sebastian Giumelli sees the triangle fall on the other side. Allen Hopkins notes that Sebastian Giumelli makes the ball both times. Mitch Laurance informs us that Sebastian Giumelli must make the shot in practice on a regular basis. Mike Massey jokes that balancing the triangle should be worth half a point. Mike Massey gets the rack to stay up but misses the ball. It is not a wooden rack, it is a plastic rack. On his 2nd attempt of the trick shot Mike Massey misses the ball and sees the triangle fall.

    Mike Massey explains that he will jump the cue ball into the boot for this difficult trick shot. On his first try Mike Massey hits the boot. Mike Massey makes the ball in the boot on his 2nd try. Mitch Laurance tells Allen Hopkins that this might be the best shot they've seen in 4 years of covering this competition. Sebastian Giumelli misses the shot on his first try. Sebastian Giumelli also misses the trick shot on his 2nd try.

    Mike Massey does a shot with low-right english and plenty of draw. The ref gives Mike Massey a point because the cue ball goes where Mike Massey said it would. Sebastian Giumelli misses the object ball on his first try. Sebastian Giumelli does not draw it enough on his 2nd try.

    Andy Segal versus Charles Darling

    Mitch Laurance and Allen Hopkins do the commentary.

    Charles Darling sets things up for the first challenge which is a multiple rail trick shot. After 7 or more rails the cue ball comes to a stop and hits the 6 ball which then forces the 8 ball in the pocket. Charles Darling makes the trick shot on his first try. Andy Segal won the lag but gave Charles Darling the first shot. Andy Segal is shown on his 2nd attempt. It isn't pretty but Andy Segal also makes the shot.

    Andy Segal makes a nice little shot which would be illegal in pool. Charles Darling also makes the trick shot to keep things even.

    Spit ball Charlie is shown setting up his 2nd challenge. Charles Darling calls it the "in the bag" trick shot. The cue ball hits 3 rails and then breaks 3 bags to enter the corner pocket. Allen repeats that Charles Darling says he will do the trick shot one-handed. Charles Darling makes the trick shot and the crowd is pleased.

    Next we see Andy Segal on his first attempt of his third challenge. The cue stick goes through to hit the 8 ball. Allen explains why this is called "the hand is quicker than the eye" as Andy Segal makes the shot. We see Charles Darling on his 2nd attempt of the same shot. Charles Darling misses the shot.

    Charles Darling uses 4 bottles in his next shot. Sinking all the balls from the tops of the bottles, Charles Darling gets a point. Andy Segal makes 4 of the 5 total balls on his 2nd attempt.

    Andy Segal has the bridge across the table near the end. Another stick goes over near the middle and a 3rd stick is on top of the first 2 sticks. The cue ball is on top of a chalk tower. Left-hand spin on the cue ball is used. Andy Segal just misses on his 1st attempt. Andy Segal makes the shot on his 2nd attempt and hears loud applause from the crowd. Charles Darling misses the shot.

    Andy Segal explains his next challenge. The cue sinks the 1 and then moves over to the corner to sink the 2. The shot requires a lot of draw. Charles Darling misses the shot.

    Charles Darling sets up 3 balls in a triangle with a 4th ball near the side pocket. Charles Darling makes all 4 balls to get another point. Greg Hovey is shown in the crowd. Andy Segal just misses the trick shot on his 1st try. Mitch notes that we haven't had a tie yet in the history of Trick Shot Magic. Allen notes that he is hoping for a tie because of his $100 bill demo we saw earlier. Andy Segal makes the right adjustment and sinks all 4 balls.

    Andy Segal makes his trick shot and wipes some sweat from his forehead. Charles Darling is shown setting up his 2nd attempt of the same shot. The cue ball must travel 3 rails and avoid kisses. The 1 and 2 do not go in because Charles Darling cannot avoid the kiss.

    Charles Darling has a shot with high, left-hand spin causing the cue ball to move down to the corner after making the first shot in the side. Charles Darling successfully makes the 1 in the side then brings the cue off the rail to sink the 3. Andy Segal makes the same shot.

    We now see why Andy Segal let Charles Darling go first after winning the lag. In the "yo-yo" shot the cue must come back and make a u-turn in order to sink the 1 ball in the side pocket. Andy Segal misses the trick shot on his 1st try. Andy Segal misses his 2nd attempt as well. Charles Darling comes close on his 1st try. Charles Darling isn't able to bring the cue ball back on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.


    We move to the tie-breaker with the $100 bill.

    Charles Darling wins the lag and elects to have Andy Segal go first. Allen reminds Mitch that the cue ball has to be hit hard to go off at least 8 rails. If you scratch or don't hit 8 rails then you lose. Andy gets 8 rails and comes pretty close to the $100 bill. Charles Darling scratches.

    Mike Massey starts things off with a nice shot where the 8 ball goes through the 9 ball and into the side. CD is shown watching the finals in the stands. Andy Segal taps the cue ball as it is frozen with the 8 ball. Andy Segal makes the trick shot.

    We see Andy Segal taking the 2nd attempt on his first shot. The timing shot is tough, Andy Segal makes all the balls but one. Mike Massey misses on his first try. Wearing a colorful vest, Mike Massey calmly sets things up for his 2nd attempt of the trick shot. Mike Massey barely makes all the balls on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot. Mike Massey jokes that he might be old but that he's not too slow.

    Mike Massey has all the solid balls ready to go. The idea is to sink all the solids except the 8 ball. Since it is a trick shot scratches are allowed. Mike Massey sinks all the balls except the 8 ball. The cue is between 2 balls on the side and 2 more columns of 3 balls are in front of it. Andy Segal says he has the shot in his book but he misses the trick shot.

    Andy Segal has tons of balls setup on one end of the table and a triangle and the 8 ball on the other end. There is a 9 ball rack on the same side of the table as all the balls. Andy Segal doesn't quite hit the cue ball hard enough on his first attempt. Barry Hart of Viking Cues is shown in the crowd. The triangle being used by Andy Segal is mueller's. Andy Segal gets plenty of draw on the cue ball on his 2nd attempt and the 8 ball goes in. Mike Massey has tons of spin on his 1st attempt of the trick shot but the 8 ball does not go in. Mike Massey wants his title back from Tom Rossman. Mike Massey does not get it on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.

    Mike Massey explains his next trick shot where the cue ball must hit at least 3 rails before hitting the 9 ball in the side. A lot of right hand english is used on this trick shot. Mike Massey makes the combo and notes that it was close. 2000 and 2001 champ Mike Massey watches Andy Segal try the trick shot. The cue is setup near the 2nd diamond and impacts the rail between the first diamond and the corner on the first rail. Andy Segal misses the trick shot on his first try. Andy Segal accidentally hits the 9 ball in too early on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.

    Andy Segal has the cue ball 1 ball away from the rail. He wants to do a masse around 2 balls making the 8 ball with 1 hand. The triangle is near the 8 ball so that it can assist. Andy Segal makes the shot and we are reminded that scratches do not mean anything with these trick shots. Mike Massey taps the top of his cue stick. Mike Massey seems to make the trick shot easily. Mike Massey explains that he has never seen the shot before.

    The Aramis tip of the day is shown by Allen Hopkins. 3 balls go in with 1 shot using 3 cues. It is called the choo choo shot. Allen Hopkins makes it easily.

    The cue ball goes 3 rails and must beat the 8 ball in the corner in the next trick shot. Andy Segal takes some time explaining the shot. First Andy Segal hits the cue into the 8 and then he hits it again into the combo. All the balls go in and the crowd cheers for Andy Segal as he clenches his fist. Mike Massey misses both attempt on the trick shot.

    Mike Massey explains the close draw shot where the cue ball is drawn into 2 cushions before making contact with the 9 ball. Low-right-english was used. Andy Segal gets the trick shot ready and then lets things fly. The cue ball does not have enough draw to reach the 9 ball on the first try. Andy Segal calls out the same shot and still does not have enough draw.

    We see the mueller's triangle again as Andy Segal has a line of balls across the center of the table. We masse around the last ball and make the 8 ball in the corner. We are not allowed to hit the rail on the opposite side of the triangle. Andy Segal misses on his first attempt of the trick shot. Andy Segal also misses on his second attempt of the trick shot. Mike Massey smiles as he sets things up. The critical setup note is that the 1 ball is near the diamond. The commentators note that a point is given to Mike Massey even though he clearly hit the side rail.

    Mike Massey puts the bridge across the table. The 1 ball goes in the side, the 2 ball goes in the corner and the 3 ball goes in the corner. Mike Massey makes the trick shot and appears to be feeling it. Watching the shot in slow motion we see the cue ball jumping over the bridge before coming off rails and going under the bridge to pocket the 3. As misses on his first attempt of the trick shot. Andy Segal gets over the bridge nicely on his 2nd attempt as the 1 and 2 balls go in. However, Andy Segal does not have enough action on the cue ball for it to reach the 3.

    Andy Segal has 6 balls frozen against the end rail. The cue must hit the rail and then curve back around the balls to pocket the 3. Andy Segal misses on both attempts of the trick shot. Mike Massey elevates the cue so that it is almost completely vertical and he misses the trick shot on his first try. Mike Massey clarifies that the cue can be a ball away from the cushion as he adjusts for his 2nd try. Mike Massey is able to sink the 3 on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.

    Mike Massey explains a draw shot where the low left-hand english is used. Mike Massey makes the trick shot and smiles. Mike Massey takes a drink of water as he watches Andy Segal setup. Andy Segal makes the corner shot but misses the 2nd ball as the draw on the cue doesn't quite angle enough. Andy Segal does not quite make it on his 2nd attempt.

    We see Mike Massey in 2000 with a bottle shot. In 2001 we see another Mike Massey highlight. However in 2003 Dr Cue Tom Rossman took Mike Massey out in the semi finals.

    We see Mike Massey taking the 2nd attempt on his 8th challenge. The 1 goes in the side. High english and cue are used. Mike Massey just barely misses the trick shot on his 2nd attempt. The announcer notes that Andy Segal must make this point to stay alive in the competition. Andy Segal makes the shot and shakes hands with Mike Massey as the crowd cheers.

    Stafano Pelinga versus Nick Nikolaidis

    Allen Hopkins and Mitch Laurance do the commentary.

    Stafano Pelinga wins the lag and elects to go first.

    Olhausen Billiards Trick Shot format is 10 shots per player.

    Stafano Pelinga has a bottle with 2 balls on top of it.
    Stafano Pelinga won the 2004 European Trick Shots Champion in Russia.
    The 1 ball is pocketed in the side. The 3 stays on the bottle but the 9 ball drops. Mitch tells Allen that this is a hard shot to start off with. On his 2nd attempt Stafano Pelinga misses everything. Nick Nikolaidis missed both his attempts as well.

    Nick Nikolaidis has 3 balls in use on the rail near the side pocket. Allen tells Mitch that Nick Nikolaidis was making this shot every time in practice. Allen notes that it is more of a skill shot than a trick shot. Nick Nikolaidis makes all the balls cleanly. Nick Nikolaidis gets the first point on the board. There isn't much english, maybe a little right-hand english. Stafano Pelinga is shown missing on his first attempt. Stafano Pelinga misses on his 2nd attempt as well.

    Stafano Pelinga has a tiny 2mm gap between the 1 ball and the cue ball, both are on the end rail. Stafano Pelinga needs to pocket the 1 ball and draw the cue ball onto the 9 ball. Stafano Pelinga doesn't quite have enough draw for the 9 ball on his first try. Stafano Pelinga gets the trick shot down on his 2nd try. Nick Nikolaidis misses both his attempts.

    Nick Nikolaidis has the bridge going across the table. The object of the trick shot is to sink the 8 ball in the corner. The cue ball jumps the bridge and draws back sinking the 9 ball. This is a touchy execution trick shot. Nick Nikolaidis makes the 8 ball and has enough draw to come back and sink the 9 ball. The cue ball goes well past the marker ball, almost to the 3rd diamond. The cue stick goes hard, down into the table, Nick Nikolaidis even nudged the bridge. Stafano Pelinga also sinks the trick shot. Allen tells Mitch that Stafano Pelinga had more juice on the ball than Nick Nikolaidis did.

    The tip of the day is presented by Allen Hopkins. Allen has a coin on the corner rail. He hits the coin in the center and pocketed the 7 ball in the corner pocket. Allen notes that he even drew the coin backwards.

    We see a Viking Cues advertisement since they are one of the sponsors.

    Stafano Pelinga has 3 triangles on top of each other. The 1 ball is on top of another ball which is on top of 2 pieces of chalk. Stafano Pelinga misses the trick shot. Again Mitch notes that Stafano Pelinga is choosing difficult trick shots. The triangle on the far end of the table helps guide the 1 ball in the corner pocket. Nick Nikolaidis makes the trick shot on his 2nd try.

    Stafano Pelinga has 5 balls near the side pocket. The 1 and the 4 go in the side. The cue ball is back one and one half diamonds. A famous Japanese trick shot expert invented this trick shot. The cue ball must be drawn back in order to sink a 6th ball in the corner. Stafano Pelinga hits the 5 first and sinks all the balls to get a point for the trick shot. Nick Nikolaidis is shown trying the trick shot for a 2nd time. Nick Nikolaidis makes the trick shot and hears cheers from the crowd.

    Balls 1 to 5 are on one side and the 9 ball is on the other side. 3 of the 5 balls must go in. The cue ball must jump over the bridge(low left-hand english). The cue ball comes back off 3 rails and hits the triangle which sinks the 9 ball. Nick Nikolaidis makes the trick shot. Stafano Pelinga does not quite hit it hard enough.

Allen notes that this trick shot requires a lot of coordination. Mitch admires the concentration Andy Segal uses. Mike Massey misses both attempts of the trick shot.

    Mike Massey uses high, left-hand english as he hits the cue into the rail. Mike Massey jokes that the cue ball must have been waxed as his english does not take hold. Andy Segal explains that the cue will go into 2 cushions then masse and make the 9 ball combo. Andy Segal follows through and makes the trick shot even though it was a Mike Massey challenge shot.

    Aramith Balls presents the trick shot of the day. Allen Hopkins hits the cue ball high into the rail such that it jumps back and he makes a 1 ball combo.

    Andy Segal explains that he will toss the cue ball in the air then do a one-handed spear such that the 9 ball combo is made. Andy Segal is 5 feet away from the table. Andy Segal doesn't throw the cue ball very high but it is still an impressive trick shot as the combo is made. Keeping the cue ball on the table is part of the challenge. Mike Massey makes his 2nd attempt off the rail. Allen and Mitch note that the shot by Mike Massey was kind of shaky in that he didn't appear to throw the cue ball up in the air. Andy Segal threw the ball about 4 inches in the air but Mike Massey threw it less than an inch if at all.

    Mike Massey brings out a trademark trick shot on his next challenge. Using one hand the cue goes straight down as the 3 ball goes in one corner then the cue ball comes back to the other corner for the combo. Mitch notes that Mike Massey does a little "jump" and "tarzan dance" after making the shot. Andy Segal goes nowhere near the 8-9 combo on his 2nd attempt.

    Mike Massey has the cue near the side on his 5th challenge. He names this after John Daly calling this a grip it and rip it shot. Mike Massey explains that he will draw the cue ball the golf equivalent of 375 yards. Mike Massey explains that you can't hit the cushion to help with the draw. Allen puts it in perspective by noting that Mike Massey will draw the cue ball about 18 feet. Mike Massey makes the shot and completes the extreme draw. Andy Segal could not do the trick shot.

    Andy Segal will do 5 cushions then 4 cushions then 3 cushions in this trick shot. In the end we'll have a ball on each cloth. All 3 balls are in motion at the same time and they each end up on their own cloths the way Andy Segal said they would. This is such a great trick shot that even Mike Massey claps. Mike Massey makes the trick shot and notes that he might steal it from Andy Segal in the future.

    Mike Massey has the cue and the 1 lined up for his 6th challenge. Mike Massey notes that this shot is for folks who don't like to use a bridge. Mike Massey hits the butt of the cue and drinks some gatorade after taking the lead. There has to be enough draw on the cue to come past the first diamond. Andy Segal makes the trick shot perfectly.

    Mike Massey drinks more gatorade after making another trick shot. Andy Segal makes the corner shot then uses low, right-hand spin to send the cue ball but it doesn't make it. Again Andy Segal explains the the cue will draw through 3 rails after making the 4 ball in the corner. There isn't quite enough spin on the cue ball on the second attempt.

    Mike Massey will go into the cushion with the cue with right-hand spin. It will then come off the rail without touching the line of balls. Finally the cue ball sinks the corner ball. Mike Massey makes the trick shot quickly. Andy Segal misses both attempts of the trick shot.

    Mike Massey hits 4 balls in at once on the next trick shot. 2 balls go in one corner, one ball goes in the side and one ball goes in another corner. This is a setup shot as the 4 balls have to be lined up properly. The last ball in the line is near the second diamond and the line is angled towards the side and corner. Andy Segal makes the shot and hears applause from the crowd.

    Andy Segal says that he is going to take a try out of the Mike Massey book. The cue ball will shoot into the 1 ball. The cue ball will then go around a line of balls and make the 9 ball in the corner. High, left-hand spin is used on the cue ball. Andy Segal tells Mike Massey that it is number 104. Mike Massey makes his 2nd attempt on the same shot. Mike Massey just misses on his 2nd attempt of the trick shot.

It doesn't matter that the cue ball goes in because scratches do not count in trick shots. Andy Segal does not make the 1 ball on his first attempt and the cue does not have enough draw. Andy Segal has a mis-cue on his 2nd attempt.

The plan is for the cue ball to come back and make a 3-5 combo. Mike Massey misses the trick shot on both attempts. Nick Nikolaidis misses both his trick shot attempts as well.

Mike Massey makes the trick shot on his 2nd try. Nick Nikolaidis almost gets the trick shot on his first attempt. Nick Nikolaidis started playing trick shots at age 18. Nick Nikolaidis makes the trick shot on his 2nd attempt.
