Hotels and Casinos near the Las Vegas Strip

As Vegas continues to evolve, more and more hotels are being built near McCarran Airport. Some of the closest are New York New York, MGM Grand, Excalibur and Tropicana. All 4 of these hotels are on the intersection of the Strip and Tropicana Ave. McCarran Airport is southeast of this intersection. Luxor and Mandalay Bay are just south of Excalibur.
Click on the links below for more information on each hotel including availability and pricing of up to 65% off.

  • Bellagio $$$$$ - The Bellagio has a huge man-made lake and it is known all over the world for poker thanks to The World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. I've only played Texas Hold'em there one time and it was a good session as I came out ahead. We have photos from the Bellagio on our Vegas Photos page. Unfortunately I have not had good luck playing blackjack at Bellagio recently. One of the nice things about staying at the Bellagio is the tram between the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo.

  • Ceasars Palace $$$$ - I have stayed at Ceasar's Palace one time. It is a very luxurious hotel with a great deal of history and tradition in Las Vegas. We have a photo of Ceasar's Palace on our Vegas Photos page.

  • Circus Circus $$$ - I have stayed at Circus Circus as a child. It is a great hotel for kids.

  • Excalibur $$$ - Excalibur has been our host on a few trips. It is similar to Circus Circus in that it is a nice place for kids. It is an ideal spot for those looking to gamble on the strip at tables that are not high stakes. In the past I have been able to find low stakes blackjack tables in their casino.

  • Flamingo $$$ - The Flamingo Hilton has been my host on several occasions. It is on one of my favorite parts of the strip near Harrahs and across the street from Ceasar's Palace and the Mirage.

  • Hard Rock $$$$ - I've never stayed at the Hard Rock Cafe but I've been to their casino, restaurant and night club many times. It is a favorite for younger crowds. Obviously it is a hot spot for anything involving music. One drawback is that it is not right on the strip, but the taxi ride is extremely short.

  • Harrah's $$$ - Having stayed at Harrah's many times, it is one of my favorite hotels. I have had some good runs gambling at their casino and I love the location, on the center of the strip, across the street from Ceasar's Palace.

  • Imperial Palace $$$ - I stayed at Imperial Palace once and it was not quite what I expected. I found it to be not as luxurious as some of the other hotels and casinos on the strip. However, the location is ideal and the room rates are very reasonable.

  • Luxor $$$$ - The Luxor is one of my favorite hotels in terms of the scenery. I've done the museum tour and I enjoy looking at all the Egyptian Art. The location is great as it is very close to McCerron Airport. The drawback for me personally is that I have never had good luck at their casino.

  • MGM Grand $$$$ - The MGM Grand was our host on one eventfut trip. The hotel is one of the biggest I have ever seen. The lines to check in were fairly long but they may have changed this as our stay was several years ago.

  • Monte Carlo $$$$ - The Monte Carlo is where we stayed in 2 of our more recent Vegas trips. The hotel and casino are very luxurious. I haven't had much luck in the casino but everything else has been pleasant. We have a photo of Monte Carlo on our Vegas Photos page. The Monte Carlo has a convenient tram that goes to and from the Bellagio.

  • Rio $$$$ - The Rio is a great hotel because every room is a sweet. I have done well gambling there over the years. We have had a few Bachelor Parties at the Rio and it is a great hotel and casino. The one drawback is that it is on the other side of the freeway from the strip so getting to other casinos and hotels requires a short taxi ride if you're not up for the walk.

  • Tropicana $$$ - When staying at the Tropicana Hotel, I especially enjoyed the swimming pools and the location. The hotel is very close to McCarran Airport.

This is a rough map of where some of the hotels on the strip are located with respect to each other. Note that the map is not to scale. Note that McCarran Airport is southeast of the Strip/Tropicana Ave. intersection.
