Okay, so, first off, nothing has changed about the Main Event, still a $10,000 buy-in, but that comes as no suprise to anyone I'm sure. Some pros are even saying that due to the new law passed last year the number of entires would go down, I don't believe that, we could even see the field surpass the 10,000 mark this year.
It looks like they have added more stud events to the schedule, I like that, Stud is a dying game nowadays and I think that it should be time for a revival because it's pretty much the roots of stud poker.
More HORSE events, and even a SHOE event, has been added to the schedule. I am a big fan of that because those who cannot put up $50,000 can play HORSE, and now SHOE, an event Phil Ivey won in the past.
Mixed Hold'em is on the schedule, that being a mix of No Limit and Limit. I am not sure about the idea of a mixed Hold 'em game, but, we'll see how it goes.
A limit Deuce to Seven event has been added, I like the move if it'll attract more people into playing this game. One thing I hate is the fact that games like Five Card Draw are still not on the schedule, I would like to see a Five Card Draw event at the WSOP. The only draw game you will find at the WSOP is indeed the Deuce to Seven event. It would be cool if ESPN could get this event on TV.
Overall, I like the schedule, a good mix of games, the $50,000 HORSE event is back, there are more Omaha and Stud games on the schedule than last year. Shaping up to be one of the best WSOPs in years.

If it's a tourney that starts as limit and goes to NL, I think it's kind of a lame concept. Sounds like just an excuse to not go broke on the 1st couple levels.
Regarding the number of entrants, there will be more than last year. It's increased every year since it started, but there prolly won't be as huge of one like 2004-2006.
2001: 613
2002: 631
2003: 839
2004: 2,576
2005: 5,619
2006: 8,773
I don't think the US ban on online poker will have a large effect. It will only effect the smaller poker sites revenue. They're still going to offer just as many seats on the main sites like Stars and Full Tilt.
I think an idea for a consest would be to guess how many entrants will be in the 2007 ME.
WSOP 2005 Trivia:
5661 entrants registered for the event, although only 5619 played
1116 entrants qualified through PokerStars
13 qualifiers had their buy-in "lost in transit"
10 online qualifiers were not permitted to play as it emerged they were underage
2 online qualifiers died before the event started

Another thing that is interesting is that there's a heads-up tournament. now I don't know if it's an open event or by invite only, like the NBC one is.
Good trivia on the 2005 WSOP by the way.

To be honest, after the 8000 some people in 2006, i'm actually going to say that this year will be the first year that it will go down in a while. I just can't see it going up again.
The events are going to be sweet, especially since there is alot of championship events.

The only way that it can be open is if it is like the H.O.R.S.E. event, incredibly pricey to weed out all the fish from buying in. But chances are it will be invite or doesn't exsist.

The attendance at the main event has never gone down since it started and even with the US internet ban, it's not going to stop people from playing.
Think we should have a contest still?
