ATTN: label poker people! what's the best printer to use? |
|
title says it all!
for those who have printed out your own labels, i'm wondering what kind of printer should i be looking for? any hints or tips would be helpful.
i'm assuming a color laser priner would be the best bet so far. any recommendations?
thanks in advanced,

It would be cheaper to ask Lynbark to print your labels
But for color sticker, you MUST have a laser color printer. Ink jet printer will wet the paper, and even if you let it dry, the label won'T stick as much as with a laser printer.
But a lot also depends on the type of printer and the type of paper. Choose both carefully.

canman23,
It would be great if you post a review of the Nexgens on our Nexgen page. I'm sure folks want to know you thoughts on how well they work with labels as well as the overall price, quality and appearance of these chips.
Thanks,
Eric

I used Krylon Preserve It. I did change the feel of the label but it really protects the labels well.

I sprayed the krylon on mine you can see them under the thread titled "labels'. I used too much on one of my sheets and it seemed to compromise the adhesive, when I placed a label on and tried to slide it over it went easily not difficultly like the others. I'm not sure if it also reacted with the ink in th elabels, but some of the fade-in color seemed to lose it's look, either that or was just a bad spot on the printer.

solid ink printer |
|
There is a technology that is not quite laser and not quite inkjet
That is solid ink printing
Xerox makes them
we have a phaser 8400 at the office and it puts a layer of wax like coating on the paper.
You might want to give this a try
The printer costs about 1K dollars

I emailed Brent @ lynbark and he said he doesn't print paper labels any longer.
Possibly he just doesn't want to make more for me, cuz they consistantly had major alignment and color issues.
I finally got some that were statisfactory. I requested more, he sent more very faded ones, I mentioned they were faded and he said he didn't have the printer any longer.
Could be concentrating on ceramics or could be BSing me. :S
Personal Poker Chips make very nice vinyl labels. I'd go with them.
