Building A Chip Set |
|
I wanted to start thinking about putting together a nice set of chips because right now i just have the dice clay composite and i wanted to upgrade to nexgens, chipcos or something ceramic. with my composite set now i have 300 white 300 red 200 blue 100 green 100 black 100 purple and 50 yellow, with how i set up the chips i never use the whites anymore and i could eliminate using the reds because we all start with 10,000 in chips, so i was hoping someone could give me a suggested chip amount to purchase if i wanted to have a 10 person game with each starting with $10,000 and also a company that you recommend, i've looked at the reviews but i was just wondering about some of your personal experiences
thanks

You can use Poker Chip Calculator to determine the break down. You should also get some red incase you are going to have a cash game.
If you were going to get a 500 set it could be broke down like...
150 red $5
100 green $25
100 black $100
100 blue $500
50 yellow $1000
Figure out what level of cash game you would play and incorporate that into your set, so it can be a cash set and a tourney set.
Eg. If you usually play $.10 / $.25 NL, you want to start everyone with $25 in chips. 10X$.05s, 18X$.25s & 15X$1, & 1X$5. So you'd want that for each player, so ten times the above denoms. Plus ten times your tourney starting stack.
Regarding which chips to buy, the reviews should help you, but ordering samples is a cheap way to find out if you like the chips or not.
Hope that helps.

well we play 5/10 NL, so what do you suggest for that, also do you have any suggestions about ceramic chips (feel, play, sound, quality)
i just figured out how i want to have the chips stacks, $10x20, $25x12, $100x10, $500x7, $1000x5, that would make $10,000 for each player and i like this setup but for a 10 person game i would need 200 blue(10) 120 green (25) 100 black (100) 70 purple (500) 50 yellow (1000), so i would probably just round some of those up to 150 green and 100 purple and just have some extras if anyone wanted to color up and stuff

I was looking into the Paulson Top Hat and Canes, at discountcasinogear.com and they had them priced at .95 per chip which looked like the best i've seen so far, my total order would come out around 580, any recommendations for where to find lower prices or how this deal looks

I really think starting the blinds at 10/20 in a T10,000 is a little much. That's 500 big blinds. I don't think any tournament in the world starts with that many.
I'd say forget all $10 chips as they aren't needed.
If yas play 5/10 cent NL, then starting stack would be like...
20X $.05, 20X $.25, & 4X $1.

if i wanted to start with 10,000 where should i start the blinds, also i could take out the blues and just have extra greens or blacks, actually i was reading what you said on the WSOP and i like your suggestion of "Since you're only playing with 10 players, could prolly just use 8X$25, 8X$100, 8X$500 & 5x$1000" because with that i would have to buy a minimum amount of chips and it would be still sufficient for a 10 man game
