Cardplayer Player of the Year |

After reading about the aussie millions and seeing that Chip and a chair posted on it, I figured maybe we could start a topic on the tournaments and who is at the top of the POY leaderboard.
Also I figured we could vote on who will take the POY title this year. 2004 it was Daniel Negranu, 2005 it was Men Ngyuen, and in 2006 it was Michael Mizarachi. Any guesses on who is going to take it down this year?
So far in the race, Gus Hansen is tied with Ryan Dunt (He won the pokerstars.net Caribean adventure) and Magnus Petersson (He won the Scandinavian Open in the European Poker Tour) for the lead. Other Notables at the top is David "Devilfish" Ulliot, Robert Mizarachi, and Andrew Black.
With the Winter Poker Open, World Poker Open Championship, The Heartland Poker Tour's Hooters Casino main event, and the L.A. Poker Classic, someone though could quickly emerge from the pack and take a big lead, like Michael and Daniel did the years they won.
I say we post who we think will win the title and then watch as it unfolds. I'm going with... Robert Mizarchi. He just got fourth in the pokerstars.net Caribean adventure, he's going to take down the title like his brother did before him.

It's really hard to pick one if u haven't been following all of the tourneys. Give us a choice from like 20.
The full tilt wsop pool was fun last year. Everyone should sign up this year.

Good point. Probably anyone from full tilt, Micheal Mizrachi, John Phan, Daniel Negreanu, Men Nguyen, David Williams, and Joe Hachem.

That's a good selection.
I'll have a look.
There are sooo many new young guns this year, it's crazy. Watch it be some no name that we've never heard of.

So far it's looking like Gus Hansen. He has the biggest cash in a tourney this year. Erick Lindgren has a $1,000,000 cash from the Aussie Millions but it was the $100,000 18 player event.

My pick is Daniel Negreanu, he's already had a hell of a 2007 season so far, and I don't expect the good run to end yet.

Yeah, Daniel just got second in the world poker open, so he is definetly going to be a contender.
True, there is a lot of young guns stepping up. Like if you go on to Cardplayer and look up Justin Bonomo, he is incredible! He has been on fire since the five diamond world classic in december.
Still, Robert is off to a fast start as well, hes going to win it... lol.

The Winter Poker Open ended with John Hennigan, who also will be taking the lead for the player of the year too. But at the same time, i don't see him being much a threat, even if he is a very good pro in his name.

I was very happy to hear John "World" Hennigan won the tournament, for once, a big name wins a WPT event. Welcome back to the winners circle World.
