Assuming you are at least twenty by now, get hold of Andrew Wimhurst's notes.
Failing that, don't bother. Seriously. There are scads of other things that will be far more use, and not take several years to learn. Because that's what a centre deal will take.
Take care, Ian

Apocalypse contains some fantastic material, and some not so great. If you can get hold of the bound volumes you'll have more that enough to work on.
When I get a new book I scan through it, marking things I want to look at again with old playing cards. Volume 1 has maybe twenty five cards in it, volume two has about twenty, volume three has five and volume four has none. However, this reflects my opinions, and you may find loads of stuff in all volumes.
Take care, Ian

I don't remember seeing a centre deal in Apocalypse.
Seriously, ask yourself _why_ you want to learn the deal. David Ben, in his Genii write up of the Kennedy deal, ends by saying 'there you have it. As one pundit would say, any two year old could do it given twenty years of practice'. He begins the article with 'in the time it takes to learn this one sleight, you could probably learn all the other great sleights ever invented...the second prerequisite is patience. Do not delude yourself that your superior sleight of hand ability will provide you with a shortcut. There is no way around it. It is going to take a long, long time before you develop any proficiency in this sleight'.
There are aspects of the centre deal which require advanced card handling skills to begin with - unless you are extremely good with a deck already, you will be wasting your time.
I'm not trying to put you off for the hell of it - I'm trying to put the move into perspective for you. Of all the sleights I've ever heard of or seen, it's by far the hardest. My attempts at it over the years have resulted in no proficiency at all; I can do the deal at a very slow pace, but it all falls apart after that.
Apart from the out of print Genii issue, the only places I've seen the deal taught are the Bertram book, and Andrew's notes. It may be in one of the Vernon Chronicles, but I don't know which one.
Take care, Ian
EDIT: apparantly it's in Revelations, if you can find a copy.

Well, assuming you know everything else, knock yourself out. Say goodbye to the next five to ten years, though.
There's a final quote from David Ben's article, right at the start; few people - if any - can deal deceptively from the centre of the deck.
Good luck,
Ian

I personally, dont see the point of a center deal, though it could be useful, I just dont see what you could acomplish with a center you couldnt do with a top, second, or bottom. Though its a neat idea, its not somthin I would practice.
Some thing like, the ambitious riser may be more useful for you to master, as a magician, and as a card cheat, second and bottoms would, in my mind be the only useful deals. Your time would be used more wisely, i believe, in mastering stacking, culling etc if that is your hobbie, occupation

you don't see the point....i could master the bottom deal and the invisible pass or i could just learn the center deal and do both in one move....by the way i learned how to center deal and i admit it's difficult.....my opinion is that the push-off second is more difficult....the thing is that i didn't see it from a book but from a site....a performance from denis behr...its a bit visible....

You could always try "Seconds, Centers and Bottoms", it has a few methods, as does volume 3 in the Inquisition of Shuffling and Dealing (magic.org). Center dealing is sometimes fun.
