Cheating |
|
Having caught the poker fever, i've bought a pretty decent Poker Table for our basement, (which we've recently re-did into a sports bar). Being somewhat new to the game, i've decided to host a little party. I've invited kids that play poker, some of who i despise. I want to learn some tricks, like bottom dealing and etc.., that would allow me to make the little b@$t@rd$ cry , and of course... TAKE ALL THEIR MONEY .
can anyone help me out here?

bottom deal |
|
First of all a bottom deal is not a trick, it's a sleight. You can learn a bottom deal pretty fast. The hardest part is to do it in a certain rythem. Your bottom deal must look like you normal deal. It must be undetected.
You want to start with a very, very hard move to master.
My advice, start with some tricks first. If you start practicing your bottom deal, don't expect that you'll be able to perform it for a few years. (ofcourse this depends on you dedication and time of practice)
There are some nice tricks particular suited for gambling.
Check thém out !

How to do a bottom deal:
1. Hold the deck in your left hand in the mechanics grip.
2. Have your right hand come over and quickly grab the bottom card.
3. Lift your hand in front of your face to cover oncomming fists.
4. Get your ass wooped.
5. Video tape it.
Have fun, you friggin dork.

Perhaps rather than responding in such negative and condescending terms you should be a little more respectful and explain to him just what he is asking and various reasons why his approach should be altered.
For example, you might mention that people put a lot of hard work and dedication into learning moves like these and refer him to locations where he can purchase teaching materials. You might also question just how serious his approach is, as the demeaning view of knowing something that someone else does and thereby causing them humiliation (making them cry) is I hope beneath even most cheats. You could also caution him on the dangers of cheating and inspire in him a passion for the art as opposed to an undue and unjust attitude of superiority.

Bottom dealing and riffle stacking are probably 2 of the more difficult sleights to master.
While there is a lot of overlap between magic sleight of hand and gambling moves, I STRONGLY SUGGEST that you should use your new found skills to entertain people vs. cheating them.
You will live longer and have a clean conscious.

HAHAHA
Your point is so right though. I hate the kids coming into these forums expecting to make it big in their 5 dollar buy in games with their little friends. "Duuuude how do you cheat i want to win lots of monies...heh heh heh!! someone help and tell me. Oh yeh i want to learn for free...give me free movies...hehehe ok thx guys"
Im getting sick of it too

I agree.... And i'd rather see somebody smiling after a card trick rather than a "I wanna kill you" face after cheating someone

im trying to learn bottom and second deals right now, they are proving to be difficult to learn alone.
i personally am not learning to scam my friends, seeing as i would never rip off a friend. I am learning cause i feel it is an important if not paramount skill to master.
especially if you want to do table routines

Ok, you guys are right, cheating=bad, then maybe you could help me out with some terminology. Whats the difference between a sleight and a trick, and what's their perpose/benefits (if any).
Alos, can anybody find any good sites that explains what a mechanic's grip is, cause people always talk about it in the forums, and i tried to google it but i come up with nothing adequite.
Thanks

A sleight is to a trick as a note is to a song. It's a component, which when combined with other components forms a trick.
Briefly, mechanic's grip involves holding the deck with your index finger lightly curled around the front of the deck, and the other three fingers along the outer long side. If you look at www.virtualmagicshow.com.deals you can see the grip in action.
Take care, Ian

sorry this is old but im just getting back onto the forums after a brief hiatus.
guy buy some books if you really want to learn stuff, just don't expect it to be easy or that you will "all of a sudden" be able to cheat your friends without them knowing.
oh and ian - your link has a typo www.virtualmagic.com/deals
hope that helps
