DONT BUY GAS ON MAY 15 DONT FORGET |
|
Someone posted this on my school's FS/WTB/Bulletin Board...sounds great to me, spread the word, tell your parents and everything, as much as i hate to say it for all you guys out there not driving yet, gas ain't gonna be easy on your wallet..
DON'T BUY GAS ON MAY 15
NO GAS...On May 15th 2007
Don't pump gas on may 15th
April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas
prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network,
and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets
for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and
lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one
day.
If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your
contact list.
i just basically copied and posted this from a different forum, it sounds like an awesome idea, i think everyone out there should try this out
so fill er up before the 15th

I have to agree with Scooter. As much as I would love to bend the oil company over and "go to town with no lube", it just won't work for reasons mentioned in Scooter's link.
People need gas to drive. There is no other alternative. It's not like we can say "Hell, gas is way to expensive. I guss I'll just fill my car with soil instead, because it's cheaper."
Yeah, it sickens me that oil companies charge outrageous prices, and then claim THEY'RE the victims because oil refineries shut down, money is being spent on research, blah blah blah. It sucks that a large chunk of gas money goes to the government, which DOES NOT get spent on programs/people that need it. The government just dips in the money like skittles on a coffee table. The government will NOT do anything to regulate the price gouging because the oil companies have them in their back pocket.
But anyway, whenever I see an email like the one Maverick got, I pretty much delete it along with those retarded chain letters. They're just totally useless and pointless.

I would actually be really happy if the prices were just over $3.00 a gallon here

a gallon is 3.7854 litres, so you are paying roughly £1.50 for 3.5 liters you lucky devils, as over here in uk its roughly 95pence ($1.90 or something like that) a liter near enough $7-$8 a gallon. britain is a rip-off

The best idea would be to support alternative energies like wind and solar. Get a hybrid car.
