Easy/Moderate Card Tricks |
|
I've been doing chip tricks for a while now but recently ive got to doing some card tricks and was just wondering if I could get some help from some posters. I know you have a few card videos on 21ace but most of them are extreme manipulation or massive combos. I was wondering where I could find or what tricks would be good for me to learn of an easy/moderate standard.
As I said I am fairly new to card tricks and I only know a few card tricks, the tricks I know so far are boomerang, charlier cut, sicsor cut, one handed fan, thumb fan, bridge riffle, card spread. Any help would be much appreciated on tricks kind of similar to those or even a bit harder or any card tricks that could be kinda used at a Poker Table.
Cheers in advance

And are you looking for card manipulations (shuffles, cuts...) or magic?

Probably both to be honest, as I said I'm new to it so I'm keen to learn probably a bit of card manipulation and also a bit of magic. I'm happy to spend some time learning both types of tricks so if people have suggestions for card manipulation and/or magic I can learn I'd sure appreciate it.

For magic you can buy for instance a book called Royal Road to Card Magic or there are very good series of books called Card College. You can also get some dvds (like the Ellusionist ones for instance). But I don't think it is very good to show magic at a Poker Table.
For manipulations and flourishes I think you might be able to learn the Thumb cut or One-handed riffle shuffle. Also learning how to deal fast and well is really useful when playing poker. If you want to learn even more then you might be interested in the Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes.

Yeh thanks alot for that, I mean I said I know a couple of tricks like the boomerang, im looking for tricks like that which are cool to do and dont take years to master. I know you mentioned the Thumb cut or One-handed riffle shuffle and I will look those couple up on youtube and see if they have anything there, but from what I hear youtube or videos on the internet aren't great for teaching card tricks or magic and you really have to learn them from books.

Well, learning from youtube is VERY much frowned apon.
I have had many occasions when people have, after my performance, said thats easy, I saw a video on youtube of it. Not to mention it's copy write and destroying the art of magic. Many people get food on there plates from people buying there books and video's, so when you post or even watch a youtube video of exposure your supporting exposure.
now, IM NOT SAYING YOU DO IT! Im just pointing out that exposure is bad.

thats right, but youtube IS good for XCM tutorials, you can watch, learn, master and practise to your heart's content, there's loads of cuts, shuffles and displays on youtube.

Yeh I do actually watch some youtube videos, just to learn the few cards tricks I do know like the charlier cut. Yeh people probably shouldnt put out videos of like hard card tricks or magic secrets that some people have payed some serious cash to learn, but it is also free speech at the same time and there isn't anything you can really do about it. Anyway dont hate the player hate the game. But if you have any ideas on easy/moderate card tricks I could learn please let me know.

There are some pretty easy mentalisim tricks you can do. You'll need to learn some forces. One handed fans are good and giant fans are kinda fun.
