Post Help Us Rate Poker Chips - Your Opinion Counts! Reply with quote
Certain Poker Chips are better than others for Poker Chip Tricks.

We have a new section where poker chips can be rated. Whether you own the chips in question or not, you can rate them based on the way they look.

I think the 11.5 gram and 13 gram chips are best for tricks but I'm sure there are people who disagree with me.

Check out the Poker Chip Rating section and don't be shy about posting your thoughts. Make sure you use your forum handle as the user name.

Remember, be careful about rating quality if you've never actually used the chips before.

if someone wouldn't mind fixing my mistake...

sancho,

Before I delete your reviews because of the mixup, I'll put them here for reference. This way you'll have it ready to copy and paste if we add chips related to your reviews in the future.

Here they are:
Quote:

Price:2 Appearance:3 Quality:3

This review refers to the Paulson style knockoff chips available from many online vendors which use a mold with a shell design on the rim. These chips are decent quality, clay type chips with a rough finish that makes them stack decent and offers plenty of friction for chip tricks. The colors and overall fit and finish are mediocre. I expected more for chips which cost in excess of $.80 apiece.

modern clay - buypokerchips
by sancho @ 03, Sep 2004
Price:3 Appearance:5 Quality:4

These are very nice chips. Paulson style. High quality construction. Bright colors with contrasting double edge spots. Printed denominations on the face. A good chip for poker and chip tricks. They have a rough finish on the faces which keeps them in a poker stack and ridges around the edges which give you a good grip for chip tricks. Start at $2.50 per chip for 2 chips and go to $1.045 per for 1000. My favorite of the commercially available chips i've tried so far.

archetype - buypokerchips
by sancho @ 03, Sep 2004
Price:2 Appearance:3 Quality:4

These are nice chips. Chipco style, if not made by chipco. Very high quality construction and art. Nice, traditional color and design. Printed denominations on the face and edges. A good chip for poker. They have a satin finish on the faces which keeps them in a poker stack, but are very slick on the edges which makes some chip tricks harder depending on how dry your skin is. Start at $2.50 per chip for 2 chips and go to $1.045 per for 1000.

Thanks. --Eric

I added the Holdem Suited Chips to the ratings section, here is the link:

WeDoItAllVegas sent me 50 of these chips so I've been using them for various poker chip tricks. Hopefully some other people can rate these chips too.

Most of chip reviews are based on people's opinons. Just get some samples and see for yourself!

My Favorites are:

Low End: 8.5 SuperDiamonds from pokerchipmart
Mid: 10g dice/crown chips from thepokerchipcompany.
High: Any authentic Paulson chip!

(and no matter what merchants tell you, unless a chip was made for a casino, its not going to be the same!)

I got some new samples in today from PokerNStuff. I put up a review of the 13.5 gram stripe suited chips. These chips are nice and heavy and the clay like surface helps keep them from slipping out of my hands when I do poker chip tricks.

Check out the review on the http://www.21ace.com/reviews/Poker-Chips-135g-Stripe-Suited.php page.

How do they sound? Coin-clink like the 11.5g metal-slugged chips? Or more of a clay click? Perhaps you could add that to your review.

Thanks.

KenN,

They don't have the metallic sound of the regular composites. The clay composition on the outside helps soften the sound with these chips. I prefer the sound of these over the regular composite chips.

I put up a new review of the 9g clay composite Las Vegas chips tonight. These chips look really cool but they are too light for me, especially after handling the 13.5g chips last night. Here is the review for the 9g Vegas chips: http://www.21ace.com/reviews/Poker-Chips-9g-Clay-Las-Vegas.php

I've seen these Vegas chips in the mall so hopefully a lot of people out there own them and can add their ratings.

CLM,

Thanks for rating the 9g Vegas Chips. It is nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks they look cool.

I added the 13.5 gram clay double suited chips to the ratings section. The link is on the http://www.21ace.com/reviews/Poker-Chips-135g-Clay-Double-Suited.php page.

just wondering if you would think about putting up a more expensive chip review section. I know some people here have expensive chips like paulsons and Bud Jones. It'd be a nice way to compare expensive chips, since you dont really want to go wrong when shelling out that kinda money.

The Royal Flush Chip is the latest to be reviewed. The rating is on the http://www.21ace.com/reviews/Poker-Chips-Royal-Flush.php page.

This chip is sold in clay composite and regular composite versions. Even though there is no such thing as a pure clay chip anymore, the clay composite version is much nicer than the regular composite version.

I put up the review for the Nexgen2 poker chips today on the http://www.21ace.com/reviews/Poker-Chips-Nexgen2.php page.

These chips seem like a great deal for the price. I really enjoyed doing this review, these chips are impressive. There has been a lot of talk about these chips in this forum in the past. Hopefully some of you can visit the above review page and post your thoughts on these!

There are tons of new poker chips in the Chip Ratings section. Some of our most senior forum members will be adding even more poker chips reviews soon. Smile

Remember that this is a community project, and your opinion counts. Please help add your reviews to this section, it is really easy just like the book reviews on Amazon.

Is there any way a member can add a new chip to the review section? I'm a big fan of the low-cost Faux clay chips, but didn't see them reviewed.

Yes, How about reviewing Burt Company at http://pokerchips.com. I just bought a set they are better than P a u l son 's and they have made chips for many casinos since the 30's 40' and 50's just look at their history page.

You can't go wrong with these chips at $1.10 a piece customized and spotted any colors you want.

checkm8r, I've been thinking we should add these chips. If you've handled them and you want to do a review then we should be able to add it to our review section. Obviously you'll need to follow our format in terms of breaking down thoughts in the price, appearance and quality categories(on a 1=worst to 5=best scale).

dpraxis_99, I'd like to research the Burt Company chips a little bit more before we move forward. Hopefully we can add them at some point too.

Same material and manufacturer, no need to write a review for the same chip with a different mold and colors.

Keeping this in mind, why are there seperate reviews for.....

BR Pro Tiki / BR Tournament

Lucky Lady Custom Chipco / Custom Chipco / Personalized Chipco / Chipco / Crystal Oyster Chipco

Paulson Pharos / Paulson

Poker Pad / Lucky Symbols / Pokertini

Nexgen / Nexgen Rivers / Nexgen 2

Nevada Jacks Skulls / NJ Desert Sands

Would these be redundant reviews considering the above?
