Help with buying a new set of poker chips |
|
Im looking to buy a new set of poker chips to replace my first ones that I bought ages ago before I could even do a thumb flip let alone any chip tircks.
I was wondering if some 21 ace posters could give me some advice based on my situation. I know a little about chips and from what I gather paulsons(james bond and pharoahs although i dont actually get the difference(design im guessing)) and nexgens are the top top tier chips but there is so much information on 100's of different chips it can be quite confusing.
My situation is:
-I want a set of 300/500 or 1000 chips obviosuly depending on the price of the chips and which of those fits my budget
-I would be prepared to spend anything up to $300($350 including shipping) in Australian dollars(1 australian dollar is worth about 80 US cents)
-I want to use the chips for both chip tricks and home games
Based on that I was wondering if some of the posters on 21 ace with much more knowledge/experience/information than me could reccomend a set or type of chips for myself and/or where you would buy those chips from because there are 100's of dealers and some have deals with 21ace whereas others dont but some are cheaper than others. Any input would be much much much appreciated. I hope that all made sense.

I would recommend this offer from Spinettis. These are the cheapest clay chips I know of. Use 21ACE as Promocode to get them for 58,5 ct (US).
I just searched Ebay.com.au for high quality chips. Not one hit. Searched for an australian trader who sells high quality chips. Couldn't find one. Even the australian pokerstores only sell crap (!?!)
If I were You I'd buy a couple of Paulson Sets and try to resell them on Ebay.com.au. You should easily get some cash out of it.

Asperitas I assume your talking about the turf clubs. Thanks for the input guys, these look like the ones for me they are clay and very good value for money, the edgespots(i dont even know what these are) sound like they arent as good as the paulsons but that seems their only draw back. Now ive actually got to get some cash together and go purchase them. (25/30 pounds is that about the weight of 500 chips, i have no idea i dont use pounds but grams/kg). Really again thanks for your help because i dont really want to buy another set after these for a while and because these are clay i dont think i will have to.

Sorry just one more thing, ive looked around and spinettis are the cheapest by far and ive enquired about to them directly about shipping costs, on another page it mentioned that "spinettis have a deal at the moment on turf club poker chips" does this mean that this price is a limited time offer eg for the next month or they can just change the price whenever they feel like it. I realise you probably dont know the answer to this but I was just wondering if from your experience you might know.

Spinetties has been selling the Turf Club chips for quite some time for this price. I don't think the price is going to change.
Don't forget to mention that you found Spinetties through 21ace to get your 10% off.

I do use grams/kg too, lol, but I thought Australians would use pounds. And my calculation was wrong of course
500 chips times 8.5g is about 4.250 kg, plus the aluminum case plus packing, let's say a total of about 7 kg, which is about 16 lbs. I think.
edgespots are these coloured inserts at the edges. turf club does not have edgespots, but I think it's better to have a high quality clay chip set without edgespots than crap chips with edgespots

USPS will change their pricing on May 14th. There will be new services available: Priority Mail International Flat Rate Boxes: $37, delivery in 6-10 days, the max. weight is 20 lbs.
Don't know how big these boxes are, you will probably not get a poker chip case in there, but this might be a good shipping deal if you order your chips without the case. |
Thanks that might be the go then because according to spinettis their cost for shipping are
Shipping cost for 300 chips would be $66 by airmail post.
Shipping cost for 500 chips would be $84 by airmail post.
