Making reads on opponents |
|
I know this is key for all levels and forms of poker but its just kind of hard to develop reads in sngs and mtts online with multiple games going on at the same time and such, I was just wondering for some tips and categories to label people and what each category means as far as what someone is likely and not likely to do. Any help would be appreciated.

There are only a couple reads you can get for online players
Bet size - If your playing microblinds you will find that it's players bets are usually directly indicative to their hand strength. This doesn't mean you can get them off of the hand as when you have the nuts you'll almost always get paid. No need to bluff a whole lot as they'll call with nothing. Also you should note how they bet when you get to see what hand they have at showdown.
Delay or promptness in betting, checking - Simple rule but isn't to be followed to a tee. If they delay then bet, they prolly have a decent hand. If they delay and check, they usually have junk.
Chat messages - If a player tells you what they have or tells you to call, they are prolly being honest.
Another good thing to note is that the more tables you play, the less attention you'll be able to give. You prolly won't be playing your A game if you have 4 tables on the go. With one table you can devote all attention to the players and see every move.
Hope this helps.
