MIT Blackjack Team |
|
Today they showed 2 of the guys from the old MIT blackjack teams with hidden cameras on HBO's REAL Sports with Bryant Gumbel. One of them used the name Vincent from Pulp Fiction. The MIT team had a rat which brought things to an end. Flyers went out to casinos to warn them about the MIT teams. The flyers had their names and pictures.
As for the Dave and Mike flew under the radar until casino noticed that Mike was burying his bets. What happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas. They started the Blackjack Institute company where they go to houses for 5k to teach folks the strategy.
Bryant talked to Bernie after the cameras showed Dave and Mike. Even though counting is "legal" the casinos can discriminate based on who is "too" good per Bernie. Per Bernie courts have upheld the policy of banning the good card counters.

There's a docu about the MIT teams. I think it's called Busting Vegas. I'd like to see it.

I saw the document before. It's definetly worth watching.
I actually think it's very impressive what they did.
Was Andy Bloch part of the MIT team?

I hate it when casinos throw out players for card-counting, it's just strategy. But the casino rules so they can do whatever, I guess.

It is lame when they do that, but they reserve the right to refuse anyone.
Someone told me that in Canadian casinos you they won't kick you out for counting cards, even if you tell them you are, but obviously, if you win in excess they'll put an end to it.

Was this the same team that was followed in the "Bringing down the house" book? I've read that one, but not "Busting Vegas." I wonder how similar they are.
