New Twirl Trick Variation |
|
Hello all,
I have come up with what I believe is a new way to do a type of twirl trick. I haven't made a video yet, but I'll try to explain it here and if people need the video then I'll send one in.
Start off with 3 chips between your index, middle and thumb. Drop the middle chip down to your pinky (I ususally pull it down with my middle finger) and hold the middle chip between your pinky and index finger, moving the other two outer chips out of the way between your thumb and index finger. Rotate the middle chip 270 degrees (like you would for a normal twirl, but 90 degrees farther) with your middle finger so that your middle finger is on one side of the chip and your ring finger is on the other side. Here's the new part -- push your middle finger away from your palm (while keeping it straight) while at the same pulling your ring finger closer to your palm (keeping it straight too). This should flip the chip around a different axis than you twirled it on, so that the chip is now rotating in two different ways for the trick. Once you have flipped it 180 degrees with the scissor action, pull your ring finger away from your palm and use it to rotate the middle chip 90 degrees (reverse direction from the original twirl direction) so that it is properly aligned to be inserted back between the outer chips you're still holding.
I think this is a pretty smooth trick, I hope you all like it. One pointer: if you are having difficulty doing the scissor without messing up the outer chips, put the scissor axis closer to your pinky so that the edge of the middle chip won't come up as high.

Hey, I sent a video in... but looking through the forum, this trick sounds like what DanesInsaneIX may have been describing. Anyway, I hope people like it no matter who came up with it first.

HAh, I like it a lot. Welcome to the forums. I'll have to give it a whirl, or a twirl even.

Now that's a variation with splash!
If you get it down fast, you could couple it with TuTone's "front-to-back-double-twirl" to add some length to it, and to keep it from being repetitive. Start with a front-to-back, then pick up into a twirl directly from there and twirl the chip from the ring finger onto the pinky, and then twirl it 270 degrees to pull off your variation. Leaves a lot of room for play, and leaving out or gaining tricks to keep the tricks flow changing.
Nicely done Andaval.
