Nexgen vs. Paulson Clones (Palm Imports) |
|
I need some expert advise!!! I'm stuck between buying the Nexgen Bees or waiting for the NEW Paulson Clones (Palm Imports). I want a really nice chip set for my home game and found great reviews for the Nexgens in my research. I'm still a little confused about the difference between all the chips. Basically, I really like the chips I've used in the poker rooms at Mandalay Bay (Las Vegas) and Borgato (Atlantic City). They seem to have rounded edges instead of the hard 90 degree edges of the cheap chip sets you get from retail stores for $60. Do the Nexgens have those rounded edges I'm looking for or only the Paulsons? This may be a CRAZY question, don't get mad at me, but in short can somebody tell me other than apperance how the Nexgens or Paulson Clones will be different than the cheap set of 11.5 clay chips my neighbor has from Sam's Club for $60. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!

the cheap set you neighbor has are plastic chips with a metal insert. The Nexgen chips are almost the same thing but they are clay composite chips. In other words, they are plastic but feel alittle like clay chips. If you like the chips that were used in casinos and want those rounded edges, you would want to purchase all clay chips. They cost anywhere from $.50 to $1.50 a chip. The Nexgen chips most likely will never become rounded. Here is a few sites that may help you:
pokerchipreviews.com
homepokertourney.com ( the site gives a description of each chip, cost, weight, and what they're made of.)

paulsons come with really crisp 90 degree edges, but they round off pretty quick. get samples of each set, but spend some time shuffling the paulsons to get the edges rounded off some before you decide.
you could also look into Chipco Chips, for example their rounders casino chips. These come with round edges from the box. they're not pauslons, but they are perfectly decent chips

Three More Months ... |
|
I wanted to do the same thing ... I talked to a guy from Palm Imports on AOL --- and he said they had some unseen manufacturing problems, so they Paulson clones won't be available for another three months ...

Ouch sorry to hear that I am looking to possibly upgrade my chip set soon and this seems to have what I would be looking for as far as clay style chips for a decent price. Hope they get it figured out soon so we can see these things for ourselves.

Paulson CLone Group Buy |
|
We're THINKING about offering the first run of the new Paulson Clones as a group buy-- pric would be .25 ea IF we can get enough interest.
We need to order 500,000 of these puppies and we will, but it would ease our pain if we could do a group buy---- I'll have more when we get closer to ordering these

Wow. this is an old ass thread.
Can't wait to see them.
I wonder what mseanschmidt ended up buying?
Not sure why they'd want rounded edges.
