Norman Chad Must GO! |
|
All I have to say about this is he was decent in 2003 and 2004, but ever since 2005, it has gorren worse for Norman. He's more bad jokes now than actual poker commentary. And what is worse during the HORSE final table when there was an all in and the board was Q933 one had nines but Norman said the other one would win with a 3 and ace high, which is wrong.
Fire Norman Chad, bring back Gabe Kaplan, except he's working for a REAL poker show now.

You might be right when you say that his jokes aren't always funny, but I don't think he's THAT bad. I've seen all poker commentators make mistakes, so I don't think you should throw him under the bus for making an error. If he screwed up all the time, then that would be a different story. Hey, it could be worse.
I've seen a lot of complaints about Mike Sexton and Vince VanPatten, but I think they're really good commentators as well.
Bottom line is no matter who the commentators are, somebody is going to have complaints about them.

When I watch the WPT I always notice when Sexton is saying something as opposed to when VanPatten is saying something.
With the WSOP it has been different for me, the commentary is just commentary and I haven't been paying attention to who says what. Moving forward I'll treat the WSOP commentary more like the WPT commentary. I did see the 2006 HORSE coverage and the commentary could have been better.

I was watching a replay of the 2006 Main Event and I made sure to focus on the commentary. Norman Chad has a very extinct voice. He made a silly comment about wanting to be like the Bob's Big Boy that stands outside restaurants.
His commentary was ok when Gold lost 2 hands in a row(2 in a row on tv that is (but maybe they weren't really in a row due to editing)). The first hand was to a Swedish player and the 2nd was to A Cunningham.

But that's it for me, the commentary is alright, if he didn't make as many mistakes, but the jokes then need to go. The bad ones at least.

Honestly he doesn't know shit about what he is talking about, it's like sticking a guy that knows nothing about football to be on Monday night... given me a break it wouldn't happen...
To the general public that doesn’t follow the game as much as someone like me would then they might find him a bit funny however I find him straight up retarded… your right he needs to go, but he has been around for years so they wont be firing him, just read card players live updates during the MTTs or actually go to the RIO to watch it in Vegas… personally I prefer seeing it live in Vegas…

Yeah I do agree with fanatic though, I go to cardplayer's website and just read all the information on tourneys there. For example, right now they have live updates the World Poker Finals, the one that Nick Schulman won last here.

I say we just have Hellmuth and Matusow commentate every WSOP and PPT Tourney.

...Touche, touche.... That would be sweet, the only thing better would be Matusow and Negreanu.
