Problem with double charlie |
|
Hi!
I've been practicing allot of XCM the last couple of weeks and starting to learn the basic moves and some more skilled ones but there is on trick i just can't learn, the double charlie. When i lift up the first part of the deck often my fingers are locked so i can't drop the first part down and when i can there is hardly any room for it to drop into. Is there some tips to make it smoother and make my fingers more free???
Tnx Loka

that made me smile, the double charlie...
first off the cuts i believe your talking about are charlier cuts, the basic flourish.
Yes, you are correct, its very difficult, but it comes with hours of dedication and practice, you must dedicate your self 100%!!!
... just joking! ...
This move will take practice but its definetly not too dificult and should only take you about an hour to learn how to do properly and well. It will take much more then that to get good at them, but not to much as that move isnt really used too much in modern flourishing
*I cant believe i said modern flourishing! As if there was ancient flourishing that was written on walls and the roman emperor spent days practicing his charlier cuts!!!*
back on subject, Where did you learn this from?
There are many great places to find tutorials for this move, My good pal Nim.Ble made one for this very site a while back, check it out if you like, or buy de'vos video xb, but I myself am not a fan of his silly theatrics... He makes flourishing a joke imo...
As for actual tips, Im not sure what your trying to say...
You may be trying to do kryptonite, I cant really tell from you description as there is no such thing as double charlie's...
if your having trouble with the basic charlier in both hands all it takes is practice.
try stretching out your pinky so that it blocks the cards from falling inwards. Id also say dont be worried about droping cards... Im sure the greatest skill Ive achieved from flourishing would be picking up cards...
Im quite amazing at 52 pick up...

Your right that there is no such thing as a "Double Charlie" but there is such thing as a Double Charlier. It's actually quite difficult. I can't even do it, but then again I've never really wanted to.
As for tips to make it smoother and consistant I would say make sure the second packet (the one lifted by the index) clears the first top packet so you are able to drop the third packet. Hard for me to describe. It is taught in xb and also in the Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes.
And if you have the basic idea of it and don't really want to buy those things, then I would suggest just looking at other videos of people performing it and practcie your butt off and experiment with it yourself.
Sorry I couldn't help much, but that's all I got.

Hi!
My bad, and I ment the double charlier cut. I first saw the trick in a flourish movie here on 21 ace but I saw a toutorial on a XCM beginners DVD. So i guess that it is just hard work and i am making very smal steps of progress and it was nice to hear that it is a hard trick because I have spent very much time on this trick
