Quicktime Sound Problem |
|
I was wondering if anyone could lend me some help with a sound problem I have been having with Quicktime. Whenever I play quicktime video files...like the Dan and Dave Trilogy trailer or the new December 2006 vid on Decknique...the sound is very skippy, appears to echo, and I can't really understand what is being said. The music does not flow and the sound skips and is jumpy.
Anyone know a potential fix to this problem? I uninstalled Quicktime, then reinstalled it and nothing was fixed. I am also having this problem in a few pc games as well...I played the Half-life 2 demo, which was awesome, but there was that same skipping, sketchy sound for the background sounds in the game, and that's the only thing keeping me from buying it.
Any help or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Marp

hmm i had the same problem with games, the sound skipped and the graphics were stalling,
i installed a new video card and added more ram and everything was fixed
as far as quicktime, try looking at the space in your hardrive, keep at least 15% free space and delete anything not needed or useless. Another thing is to look at taskmanager and look at the processes tab, end some unecessary processes. One last thing id say is let the video fully load before playing it
if none of these work then i apologize in advance for wasting your time

If it's just your audio that's messing up, you could benefit from updating your audio drivers.
Has this always been happening or just recently? If just recently, is there something you may have installed or downloaded that might be causing this.
Be sure there are no unneeded programs running in the background. You could also make sure you have the latest QuickTime, however, if it's happening with games, it's prolly the drivers.
Regarding HL2, this game takes up alot of resources and has high system requirements. If it's just the audio skipping and not the video, I'd guess it may be your audio drivers.

You could go to START/Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices. The 1st thing listed on the volume tab, should be the manufacturer of sound card or integrated sound on your computer. Eg. NVIDIA, Realtek, VIA, Creative Sound.
You can go to their website and download the latest driver and install them on your computer.
Also consult your PC manufacturers website.
If you put your PC together piece by piece, consult the manufacturer of the motherboard or sound card.
Also, you could go to the Hardware tab of Sound and Audio Devices and click on what ever sound driver is listed and hit trouble shoot. It can usually narrow things down for you.
Hope it works out.
