I have an original first generation Cube which I got for Christmas 1980. I remember looking at this strange thing which came in a plastic cylendar with no instructions and muttering 'what the hell is this?' before being cuffed by my grandmother...
It's sitting on my shelf right now, and is still usable despite being a bit loose (if you are not careful on a turn it's possible that it will explode!). Thirty years ago we were less focused on speed, and my best time was around 96 seconds. These days, because I've forgotten a lot of the more obscure patterns, it's closer to two minutes.
Take care, Ian
