SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL! My 2007 WSOP Superpost! |
|
I will be posting updates and pics as I get them all here in my WSOP superpost.
----------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/pokerblog/archives/004833.php#more
These are the first pics I have seen from the 2007 WSOP. The first pic is Jamie Gold giving the command to shuffle up and deal. Some interesting things you're going to see in the next pics are new cards and new chips for the WSOP '07.
The new cards, and I heard they're already gone, cannot confirm that, 'cause many players have complained about them, including Matusow, who said "Who's the genius who came up with these cards?" But I cannot confirm that at this time.
Second is the new chips! Right now I cannot decide if they look better or worse than last years, right now I am leading toward worse, but, for the first time since...I don't know...They are NOT using Bud Jones, instead, they are using Paulsons.
Enjoy the pics, I will post more as the 2007 WSOP progresses.

Here is a quick look at the new cards, and I must say, they are a failure! In fact, there have been several reports of players misreading their cards. Which would make it all better if they were taken away.

June 2nd (Day 2)
8:04 A.M.: Day 1 of Event 1 Ends with the Women on Top
It is the end of Day 1 at the Mixed Hold 'Em World Championships, and the women are on top, with the last woman standing at the 2006 Main Event leading the pack, yes, Sabyl Cohen is proving that she is no fluke of a poker player thus far as she is the chip leader of Event 1 going into day 2 with $122,200 chips. Liz Lieu is 3rd with $76,000. Todd Brunson is in the top 10, he has $56,000. Out of 451 players, less than 100 remain. So far I think that this has turned out to be a good, and fast, event, I'm anxious now to see who'll make the first WSOP final table of 2007, but we won't find out who gets there until the end of day 2.
8:08 A.M.: Fantasy Series of Poker - Win a Seat in the '08 WSOP!
If you like fantasy poker, and you play on Full Tilt Poker, go onto your account's cashier, click my promotions, and play the fantasy poker game during the WSOP for your shot at winning cool prizes, including a seat in a freeroll tournament where you can win your early seat into next years WSOP!
By the way, here is now a quick look at the brand new 2007 Paulson chips in use now at the WSOP.
5:30 P.M.: A sign of a big number in the main event? And these guys being totally prepared?
"An estimated 3200 players will be competing for this first no-limit bracelet, making this the largest tournament field discounting the main event. This gigantic number of players has resulted in an outdoor tent being utilized as a very warm overflow tournament room. Alternate players numbering around 800 line the hallways surrounding the Amazon room, making getting around the Rio a very slow endeavor. "
5:42 P.M.: The new cards costs a player his entire stack! Nice job USPCC!
The lookalike sixes and nines in the much-maligned "Poker Peek" decks just cost one player his entire stack. On a flop of 10s-9d-4c, Rep Porter bet 400, his opponent moved all in and Porter called. Porter showed A-T while his opponent held 4-6, believing he had flopped two pair. Only, what he thought was a nine was actually a six! The turn was the 8h and the river the Jc, giving him no help. After he was knocked out, he stood and looked at the board, just shaking his head.
5:50 P.M.: Mike Matusow Crippled By Set Over Set...Over Set! Isn't That What You See Only Online?
This is pretty sick. After a flop of Q-8-3 Mike Matusow ended up all-in with two other players. Matusow turned over pocket threes, another player showed pocket eights, and the third player had, you guessed it, pocket Queens. "I almost laid that down," Matusow said, afterwards. He's down to about 200 in chips.
6:02 P.M.: The Cavalry To The Rescue!
It has been reported earlier today that, during his opening remarks, WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said that there are trucks, laden with old-style playing cards, en route from Cincinnati and Los Angeles. Godspeed, you 18-wheelers!
7:35 P.M.: Joe Awada Wins...or Does He? Another Case of Misreading Cards by the DEALER!
Joe Awada raised 600 and two players called. The flop came 5-7-9 and everyone checked. Players checked the A turn card and the 7 river card. Seat 3 showed a A-9, Awada showed A-K. At that point the dealer pushed the pot to Awada for a pair of aces. Seat 3 objected, pointing out his two pair. The floor was called and cards retrieved. Sure enough, the dealer had misread the nine for a six. The chips were awarded to Seat 3 and left Awada crippled.
8:08 P.M.: Phil Hellmuth Goes Out To Quads - Look Out Everyone?
With a stack over 10,000, Phil Hellmuth ended up with all his chips in the middle as he usually does--with the best of it. Phil turned over and his opponent had . And then, the fireworks began. The flop came and a collective "whoooo" went up from the table. One player pointed out that Phil had picked up a flush draw...and that's right about the time when the case Jack hit the turn. You probably wouldn't take a hand like that with perfect aplomb, and Phil didn't either, sniping a bit about the call when he'd only shown down one hand at that table and that had been a set of Queens. But he shook everyone's hand, groused a bit more, and headed for the hall with "Whoo, I'm shaking!" as his exit line.

Nice posts, dude.
I agree that the new cards look bad, but I don't think they're to blame for people misreading their cards. Everyone plays under the same conditions. If you can't read your own cards, then you need to either pay a little more attention, or you're too stupid to read. For every person who complains that they're misreading their cards, there's hundreds of others who are having no trouble whatsoever.

June 3rd (Day 3)
Thanks for the comment deadppl. Day three is going to be one of the first busy days at the Rio, with four events in play today, including the first final table of the series.
6:24 P.M.: Final Table #1
The final nine players in the $5,000 mixed hold'em world championship are taking their seats. The final table for event #1 will award the first bracelet of the World Series Of Poker! Here is how things will look when they start:
Seat 1: John Younger
Seat 2: Jon Turner
Seat 3: Fred Berger
Seat 4: Rodger McDow
Seat 5: Greg Mueller
Seat 6: Kirk Morrison
Seat 7: Steve Billirakis
Seat 8: Steve Paul Ambrose
Seat 9: Tony George
My pick to win at this point will be Steve Paul Ambrose, Greg Mueller is my second pick to win.
6:27 P.M.: Three Other Events in Play
Also today there's day two of the record-breaking $1,500 NLHE event. The returning 270 players are settling in and unbagging their chips. The chip leader is Alex Jacob with $189,400 and several others are not far behind. Former World Series of Poker Champions Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer are still in the field as well.
This $1,500 No Limit Hold 'Em event is the third largest tournament in the history of the World Series of Poker, behind only the Main Events of 2005 and 2006. There were officially 2,998 entrants and the players have already played into the money on day one. Play will continue into the early hours of the morning until there are only nine left standing.
Event #4, the $1,500 PLHE got underway today, and appearently Chip Jett was freerolling in this tournament...
"Table four, which once housed Chip Jett, David Ulliot, Huck Seed and AJ Kelsall, has lost a big name. Chip Jett has left the table, but he was not felted, and the tournament directors were not yet balancing tables either. During level two, a late player walked up to Chip and said, "Hey, that's my seat." At first it seemed like a small misunderstanding, but eventually the floorman discovered that Chip had accidentally played in the wrong event, and indeed had not registered at all for event four but rather for tomorrow's event six. An honest mistake on Jett's part, this confusion was solved by Jett simply paying the $1,500 buy in and being moved to another table."
Phil Hellmuth strolled onto the tournament floor with a few minutes remaining in level two and sat between Jason Strasser and Gavin Smith, who each have a stack of hundred dollar bills in front of them which are in action on props. Strasser was apparently quick to get Hellmuth going, and the banter has already begun at what is sure to be an entertaining table.
And, finally, Event #5, the $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud H/L event, will get underway tonight at 8:00 E.D.T., or 5:00 out at the Rio, another first of its kind at the WSOP, Omaha and Stud High/Low are being combined into one tournament.
6:33 P.M.: One Final Comment on the Cards
I think the reason why they were confusing the sixes for nines is because normally you would see the digits on the top-left and the bottom-right of the cards, but on these cards, the digits are on the bottom-left and the top-right, so you can probably see now why it has gotten confusing, and thus, the cards and gone after only 2 days in play.
6:56 P.M.: One Hand and One Elimination at the Final Table
Blinds at the Mixed Hold 'Em final table are 15,000-30,000, and the limits are 30,000-60,000. Fred Berger, the chip leader, just eliminated John Younger, the short stack, on hand #1 when his AK held up against John's AQ.
7:22 P.M.: Some AWESOME Pictures
http://www.lasvegasvegas.com/pokerblog/archives/004835.php
Here are some fantastic pitcures just taken and posted from the WSOP courtesy of the lasvegasvegas.com poker blog
8:09 P.M.: Down to Seven - Jon Turner Eliminated
Tony George has the button in seat 9, Morrison raises to 55,000, Turner moves all in for 325,000, and Berger thinks for several minutes before calling from the big blind. The action is back on Morrison, who thinks for a moment before folding. Turner would end up losing the pot with AK vs QQ and he finishes in 8th place.

Great post. I've seen pics of them using kem arrows. I wish i could find it.
How's that for security.
What do the pros think?
 |
 |
What the hell are these? |
 |
 |
It was a major error. I told him two weeks ago that the cards sucked. |
 |
 |
Did you see these cards? You can't see the cards! Where's Jeffrey Pollack? This is Bullshit. I'm not even kidding, I'm serious. Why do we put up with this? They are raking the crap out of us and making millions and we put up with this bullshit. We should boycott! |
Matusow: Hey TJ, aren't you on the Players Advisory Committee?"
TJ Cloutier: We didn't vote on these cards.
The card's also bear WSOP Commisioner's signature with his name printed on the backside, but this year's decks may become a collector's item because his name is misspelled.
Under Pollack's signature is printed "Jeffery Pollack." The only problem is that Pollack's first name should be spelled "Jeffrey."
The new chips are pretty sweet looking though. Paulson clay this year instead of Bud Jones like the last several.
Ooooooo, the 5,000 chip Tiger orange. I love these new chips, however I believe they all have the same edgespot pattern. I saw a pic of the dealer event and they were using last years BJ chips.

June 4th (Day 4)
Commenting first on the last post, the Tiger chips do look pretty sweet. If you look at my pic of the chips you can see the edge spot design on them, I call them "Bees" you can see it especially on the 25 chip. kem Arrow Backs? LOL I guess I can walk around now saying I have a WSOP used deck of kems. This WSOP is getting worse and worse.
Yesterday: Jeff Madsen Loses One Title Very Early
"Steve Billirakis not only made history by winning the first $5,000 mixed hold’em event in World Series of Poker history, he also became the youngest person to ever win a bracelet at 21 years and 10 days old." Talk about barely legal!
"Billirakis won $526,387 by outlasting 450 other players. The mixed hold’em event featured alternating rounds of limit and no-limit play.
Billirakis is a full 25 days younger than Jeff Madsen was when he won his first bracelet last year. Madsen broke Eric Froehlich’s age record that was set only a year before. Billirakis is also a prominent Internet poker player under the screen name MrSmokey1.
On the final hand Mueller raised to $200,000 and Steve Billirakis reraised to $300,000. Mueller moved all in for $25,000 more and Billirakis called. Mueller showed 54 and Billirakis flipped over K2. The board was dealt QJ28Q and Billirakis won the first bracelet of the 2007 World Series of Poker. He will take home the gold bracelet and $536,287 first place prize. Mueller took home $328,554 for second place."
Yesterday: Reigning USPC Champion Goes For Bracelet #1 in an Internet Sized Field
After shattering records for the largest tournament field outside of the main event, it is no suprise that the second final table is full of unknown players, but one person who was once amongst the unknowns at the WSOP is going for bracelet #1, and just might win it. Alex Jacob, the reigning USPC champion, who was at one final table last year, comes into the $1,500 NLHE final table with a commanding chip lead, $3,100,000. His closest opponent so far is Paul Evans with almost $1,700,000, so this may be Alex's tournament to win. Amazingly, despite the giant field, Alex has lead not only after day 2 but he was the chip leader at the end of day 1 also.
Here are the final table players and chip counts by seating assignment:
1. Craig Cirvello - $495,000
2. Jeff Yoak -- $965,000
3. Alex Jacob - $3,100,000
4. Andreas Krause - $490,000
5. Paul Evans - $1,690,000
6. Thad Smith - $555,000
7. Ciaran O'Leary - $610,000
8. Matt Vengren - $930,000
9. Bart Hanson - $210,000
Yesterday: Play Fast, Win a Tournament?
With over $156,000 chips, Rob Playfast leads the pack in the $1,500 PLHE event going into day two. Bobby Bellandeis 3rd with over 110,000 and Marco Traniello is 9th with 66,000. Gavin Smith ended the day in 10th with 65,000. As of yesterday, 51 players still have chips.
Yesterday: Day 1 of Inagural Omaha/Stud H/L Event Over
With about 79,000 chips, John Monnette leads the Omaha/Stud H/L event after day #1. Notables in the field still include 3rd place Mel Judah with $44,000, 6th place Cyndy Violette with 41,000, 8th place Mike Matusow with 38,800, and 10th place Andrew Black with $31,500. Others still in include Shawn Shiekhan, David Benyamine, Ralph Perry, Jen Harman, Josh Arieh, and Bill Gazes.
6:41 P.M.: Two More Events Underway
Today kicks off two new events, the $1,500 Limit Hold 'em, and the $5,000+rebuys PL Omaha event.
6:43 P.M.: Hellmuth Making New Friends
From the Limit Hold 'em event...
"What Level 3 lacked in action, it made up for in table talk. The most liked guy in poker and, and often considered the least talked about player…or maybe I have that backwards, Phil Hellmuth had found a new adversary in Seat-3 on table 2. Things have not been going Phil’s way and it seems as if his nemesis is the root cause of it. Constantly forced to muck the second best hand, Hellmuth’s only option at this point was to grit his teeth and utter, “Nice hand, sir.” No more mister nice guy when Seat-3 raises under the gun and Hellmuth instantly re-raises. Seat-3 re-raises Phil again and hellmuth makes the call. The flop comes J86 and Seat-3 fires at the pot. Hellmuth just calls as the turn brings the 4. Both players check to the river which hits the 5d and once again, Seat-3 fires at the pot. Hellmuth folds but not without a few words of encouragement for his newfound friend. Phil says, "I had A9 and I’ve been folding that hand all day. But against you I said 3-bet, baby. We figure to be having a long time together. You figure to race more than you have to, and I figure to pounce on you." Unfortunately for Hellmuth, he never got his chance as he was eliminated when he moved all-in with pocket threes and finished the hand in third place when both of his opponents made a diamond flush on the turn."

http://www.pokerlistings.com/live-tournaments/wsop/2007/videos?episode=2
Be sure to click on the video with, you guessed it, the Mouth, as they explain all about Mike's outburst about the new cards.
7:34 P.M.: The 2007 World Series of BLING
HERE IT IS! The 2007 version of the WSOP bracelet!
And this year, the women have their own special bling for the ladies championship.

9:11 P.M.: Final Update, is Jacob Losing it?
6 players are left at the $1,500 NLHE final table, the one time dominating chip leader, Alex Jacob, has now lost the lead after doubling a couple of players. Below are the latest chip counts.
Cirian O'Leary: 2,655,000
Alex Jacob: 2,300,000
Jeff Yoak: 1,550,000
Craig Crivello: 1,450,000
Andreas Krause: 565,000
Paul Evans: 515,000
Out of the tournament...
Matt Vengrin (7th)
Thad Smith (8th)
Bart Hanson (9th)
I will have the results in my next post tomorrow.

June 5th (Day 5)
I am back once again with more updates from the WSOP, well, I;m not actually there, but, I wish I was.
Okay, comment on the last post. I did notice that they were using new chips for that event, and I will try and get close-ups. My thought was that maybe they are doing different chip sets, like the Bellagio does for their tournaments, one set for daily tournaments, one for low buy-ins, and one for their main events, for security purposes. I know, what does the WSOP know about security (the arrow back cards) but they did afterall have no choice but to use them after the complaints about those terrible new cards, which I wouldn't think would become much of a collectors item either.
Yesterday: First there was E-Fro, now, A-FRO?
Yea, this is Alex Jacob at yesterdays final table...umm...you can make your own comments on this one.
Yesterday: Ciarin O'Leary, a 10-1 Dog, Wins Event #2
"O'Leary came into the final table fourth in chips, a 10-1 dog according to the bookies, with his $610,000 in chips well behind leader Alex Jacob's stack.
But the Irishman-turned-Seattle-native was never daunted, watching counterparts Matt Vengrin, Bart Hanson, and Thad Smith bust out in rapid succession and weathering Jacob's chip-accumulation maelstrom before sucking out on Paul Evans when he turned a set of nines against Evans' pocket kings."
Alex Jacob, the one time big chip leader, imploded! He compled a stunning collapse when he called all-in for a massive pot against O'Leary with 9-4 on an A-4-2-K board. The Irishman, who spent many of his all-in encounters disappeared into the crowd somewhere, showed pocket sevens and held on through the 6 river to busticate Jacob and take an overwhelming chip lead into the heads-up battle with Paul Evans.
Today: Not One but TWO Final Tables to be Played Today, Annie Duke Seeks Number 2
Annie Duke (almost) leads an all-star final table at the inagural Omaha/Stud H/L event. Annie Duke is always making it to final tables at the WSOP it seems, in 2005 she made the LHE final table, only to bust in 3rd(?). In 2004, Annie finally won bracelet #1 in the Omaha H/L event, so you know Annie has experience playing Omaha, but this is more than that, this is also a Stud H/L game. Joining Duke at the final table are John Phan, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, and David Benyamine. With 526,000 chips, Tom Schneider leads going into the final table. Below are the chip counts in full.
1 Tom Schneider 526,000
2 Annie Duke 239,000
3 David Benyamine 221,000
4 Chris Bell 213,000
5 Chris Ferguson 193,000
6 Joesph Bolnick 104,000
7 John Phan 88,000
8 Ed Tonnellier 69,000
Also today the $1,500 PLHE final table will be played. Gavin Smith is the chip leader heading into the final table with a chip count of 480,000. Below are the chip counts for that event.
1 Gavin Smith 480,000
2 William Hill 332,000
3 Bruce Vanhorn 315,000
4 Jeff Langdon 286,000
5 Marco Traniello 277,000
6 Mike Spegal 241,000
7 Jon Friedberg 204,000
8 Tom Savitsky 140,000
9 Eric Lynch 91,000
Today: Updates on Other Events Happening Today
Tommy Hang leads the pack in the Limit Hold 'em event after day 1 with 90,000. Also among the chip leaders after day 1 are "Minneapolis" Jim Meehan, David Chiu, Minh Nguyen, and David Sklansky.
Will we see a PL Omaha final table stacked with pros? That's how it is looking right now in the first PL Omaha event of the series after day 1. Leading all pros, and everyone else, is John Juanda with 310,000. Humberto Brenes is 3rd with 265,000, Andy Black is 4th with 230,000, and Burt Boutin ended in 7th with 190,000. Other notables in the top 50 include Kirk Morrison, David Williams, Erik Seidel, Mike Sexton, Bradely Berman, Robert Williamson III, Johnny Chan AND Doyle Brunson, former Omaha world champion Rafi Amit, Ram Vaswani, Devilfish Ulliot, Scott Fischman, another former world champ Lee Watkinson, Todd Brunson, Chau Giang, Steve Zolotow, Eli Elezra, Nenad Medic, Robert Mizrachi, had enough pros? TOO BAD! Because also on that list are Minh Ly, Chip Reese, Erick Lindgren, Jeffery Lisandro, Max Pescatori, Patrik Antonious, Michael Binger, Dewey Tomko, Jim Bechtel, and James Van Alstyne. PHEW! But only 9 can make the final table. Here is a challenge, pick your final table from this list, if you're right, you win nothing! But you'll look smart in the process. 54 players remain in this tournament.
Two events getting underway today are the $1,000 NLHE with rebuys, and the undisputed king of rebuys, Daniel Negreanu, who once set the record for rebuys, is playing in this event. And the $1,500 Omaha H/L event is also kicking off today.
Count it, that's SIX events being played on the same day at the Rio, man are they busy today.
6:38 P.M.: Doyle's Quest for 11 Temporarily Ends
Bill Edler has KO'd Texas Dolly in the PLO when he rivered a straight against a set of tens for Doyle.
6:41 P.M.: Blackjack's Bad Boy Playing in the WSOP
"Hollywood" Dave Stan, a well known Blackjack player, is currently playing in the $1,000 NLHE+R event. The last thing we need is him, Hellmuth, and Matusow at the same table.
6:48 P.M.: "The Nuts" Becomes a Sponsor for the WSOP
from worldseriesofpoker.com - you can go there for the whole story
LAS VEGAS – June 05, 2007 – Harrah’s License Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET), has entered into an multi-year agreement with Kraft Foods Global Inc. (NYSE:KFT) to make Planters nuts an official sponsor of the World Series of Poker and the “official nut” of poker’s biggest event.
6:52 P.M.: John Phan First Out in O/S H/L Final Table
On the first hand of Stud, John is all-in on fourth street to Annie Duke and his Aces are not enough. John Phan finishes in 8th place.
9:02 P.M.: FINAL UPDATE
This is my final update for tonight.
5 players remain in the PL Hold 'em final table. Gavin Smith has taken a dominating chip lead, holding 965,000 chips. Mike Spegal is 2nd with 490,000, William Hill has 410,000, Jon Friederg has 290,000, and Thomas Savitsky has 200,000.
5 players are also left in the O/S H/L event. Tom Schneider still has a 2:1 chip lead with 720,000, Annie Duke has 315,000, Chris Ferguson as 280,000, Edmond Tonnellier has 230,000, and Chris Bell has only 70,000.
Joe Sebok is the current chip leader in the NLHE+R tournament with 52,000, Antonio Esfandiari has just hit the top 5 with 34,000.
29 remain in the PL Omaha event. The notables still alive include chip leader Andrew Black, Robert Williamson III, John Juanda, Dave Ulliot, Hoyt Corkins, Jeff Lisandro, Burt Boutin, Mike Sexton, Steve Zolotow, Nenad Medic, Dustin Woolf, Humberto Brenes, Minh Ly, Chau Giang, and Chip Reese, they should be down to 9 by the end of play.
I will have all of the results and more awesome pictures tomorrow afternoon.

June 7th (Day 7)
Sorry I could not come over and post an update for day six so here is a super update covering both day 6 and day 7 so far. First, some good news in the online poker world.
Today: Bill That Would Legalize Online Poker Introduced
from cardplayer.com
The Skill Game Protection Act Defines Poker as a Skill Game
A Florida politician who believes poker should be considered a game of skill has introduced a bill that would allow people to play online poker legally with government protection in the United States.
The Skill Game Protection Act had been introduced by Democrat Rep. Robert Wexler. The bill would make several games, including poker, mah jong, bridge and chess, exempt from current laws that are pursuing online gambling.
Basically, the bill aims to clarify which games are skill games and which games are not. The bill specifically calls poker a game of skill, and if passed, also calls for a system to be in place that would tax and regulated all real-money games of skill to ensure that both the games remain fair and that minors and compulsive gamblers wouldn’t be able to play.
The bill would add language to existing laws – including the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act – that would define poker and the other games mentioned as games of skill. It would allow adults 18 and older to play real-money skill games online.
This is the second bill introduced this year that would tax and regulate online gambling. Barney Frank introduced a bill that would create an exemption to the ban on online gambling for properly licensed operators. Rep. Shelley Berkley also introduced a bill earlier this year that calls for an intense study to learn the feasibility of taxing and regulating online gambling in the United States.
Tuesday Report: "Smith Finishes 2nd....Again. "
Yes, sadly, it is true, despite having a big chip lead, Gavin let the bracelet get away as he was defeated by Michael Spegal in the PLHE event. It was a short lived final table for Marco Traniello, who finished the event in 9th.
John Phan, David Benyamine, Chris Ferguson, and Annie Duke all could not kick Tom Schneider off the top of the chip mountain as he took down the inagural Omaha/Stud H/L event. Duke finished in 3rd, Ferguson 4th, Benyamine 6th, and Phan 8th.
Wednesday Report
Gary Sty...cz...ynski captured gold in the Limit Hold 'em event yesterday, defeating Var...o...uzhan Gumroyan and Han...su Chu. This tournament was really one for the nobodies as not one noticable face was among the final 9. The best finishing notable was David Sklansky (13th).
Burt Boutin Wins Event #7 Pot Limit Omaha
The murderers rows of pros left in the PL Omaha event ended up in a final 10 that included some tough Omaha players. Robert Williamson III, called "Mr. Omaha," finished 10th. Humberto Brenes and John Juanda were the next two out as they finished 8th and 7th respectively. Minh Ly would be the next big name out as he finished 5th. After the final table chip leader Dave Ulliot went out in 3rd, it was down to heads-up play between Eric Cajelais and Burt Boutin. The head-up chip counts and results were as followed...
"Eric Cajelais -- $3,200,000
Burt Boutin -- $2,460,000
FIREWORKS FIRST HAND!!!
Both players wasted no time gunning for the bracelet and the first hand of heads up play was a monster On a flop of A82, Boutin bets and Cajelais raises $375,000. Boutin instantly reraises to $1,000,000 and Cajelais reraises all in. Boutin insta-calls and tables AKQ6 for top pair with the nut flush draw. Cajelais tables 8855, for top set. Boutin looked intense as his crowd eruptes calling for a spade. The turn brought the 3, and Boutin raised his arm in triumph. He ran to his side of the arena and was enveloped by his spectators. He emerged in time for the announcer to remind him that the hand wasn't over, and he could still lose if Cajelais made a full house . That wasn't the case however when the river came the Q. Boutin once again raised his arms in celebration and the noise was deafening. He now holds a $4,900,000 to $760,000 chip lead as play continues.
Less then 10 hands into heads up play Erik Cajelais raises the pot and Boutin calls. The flop comes AJ5, Cajelais moves all in and Boutin calls with AQ87. Cajelais tables AQ103 and at the moment they are splitting the pot. That all changes on the turn when it comes 7 giving Boutin two pair. The river is the 4, and Boutin wins the gold bracelet and $825,956. Cajelais takes home second place good for $483,775."
So congratulations to Burt Boutin, who finished 2nd at the WPT in Niagara Falls, for winning at this years WSOP.
Amir Vahedi and Michael Gracz both lead the way at the $1,000+R NLHE final table today. Michael has 730,000, while Amir Vahedi, a man you don't see at final tables much anymore, is your chip leader with 1,360,000 chips. Final table action kicks off today.
Alex Jacob gave it a shot, and failed, now it's Jordan Morgan's turn. The USPC runner-up, Jordan Morgan, is 2nd in the chip count going into the final table of the Omaha h/l event, he currently has 325,000 chips. The chip leader is John Varner with 590,000 chips.
Day one of the latest NLHE event ends with 125 left. Phil Hellmuth's quest to be the first to 11 bracelets continues while making history...
"This World Series of Poker cash is number 58 for Phil Hellmuth, breaking the record he set last year with 57. When the tournament officials announced that everyone was in the money following the elimination of the player in 154th place, Hellmuth smiled and exclaimed, "I just broke the record! Most cashes in the World Series!" He was of course being humorous because everyone at the table already knew the record was his own. Hellmuth is making a serious push for his 11th World Series of Poker bracelet as well, another record he may one day hold."
Phil is 10th in the chip count right now with 91,800 chips. 2004 WSOP cinderella story John Murphy is 6th with 96,000. Other notables in the top 50 right now include John Gale, Eric Froelich, Clonie Gowen, Amnon Fillipi, Paul Wolfe, Andy Black, David Chiu, Scotty Nguyen, Daniel Alaei, J.C. Tran, and Dustin Woolf.
Even more notables are still alive in the Seven Card Stud World Championship event. Theo Jorgensen is the chip leader with 58,000 chips. Notables, in order of chip count, still alive include Johnny Chan (5th - 31,200), Jeffery Lisandro (6th - 30,500), Barry Greenstein (7th - 29,000), Cory Zeidman (8th - 28,000), John D'Agostino (9th - 26,300), and John Hennigan (10th - 25,500). There are too many other notables to mention that are still alive, so we may have another stacked final table at the end of the night. Just less than 100 remain in the tournament.
Getting underway today is the $1,500 NLHE 6 Handed event.
6:03 P.M.: Hellmuth Out...in Classic Hellmuth Style!
Partho Data raised the pot to 10k, Hellmuth re-raised to 25k, after calling, he went all-in after Hellmuth bet on a 2-3-4 flop. Hellmuth said, "Did you flop a set on me?" "You go crazy with two fives? I haven't bet this much in a tournament in a single hand yet!" After seat 4 calls the clock on him, he goes into a tirade, and this is a classic.
"How long have I taken? That's not right! Will you let me focus? You're abusing the clock, you'll get a 20 minute penalty if you do it again."
After he finally called all-in, he turned over the two black nines, Partho had A-J, so Hellmuth at least made a great call, but the 5 fell on the turn completing the wheel for Partho, and Hellmuth HITS THE FLOOR ROLLING ON THE GROUND!
YES! YES! shouted Partho.
THAT STONE COLD IDIOT TRIED TO BLUFF ME!" said Hellmuth.
6:29 P.M.: kem Arrowbacks Now Replaced With the Custom Backs
As you can see from this pic of John D'Agostino the cards are the normal kems but now with the custom backs, I wonder if they finally spellchecked Jeffrey Pollack?
6:47 P.M.: WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO BE SITTING BEHIND THIS STACK?
After counting this, there's over 8 MILLION in chips there!
7:28 P.M.: A VERY Interesting Find, Richard Broadie and Other High Rollers BANNED?
http://www.brodietech.com/liontales/blog.htm
This is a very interesting column by Richard Broadie on why he and other high rollers are no longer welcomed at Harrah's brand casinos.
"On May 10, Harrah’s sent certified letters to several high rollers informing them that their business was no longer wanted at Caesars Palace or any of the other Harrah’s properties in Nevada, California, and Arizona. I was one of them. I called the office of Tom Jenkins, regional vice president, and got a call back from Terry Byrnes, the VP of customer service. He told me I was being 86ed because they couldn't figure out how to make a profit off me. "

June 8th ( Day 8 )
Here is a quick list of yesterday's final table winners and results and today's final table updates.
Event 8: $1,000 NL Hold 'em + Rebuys: Michael Cho
Tommy Vu open pushes with K8 and Chu calls with A3. The board comes 65364, a flush draw on the flop for Vu, but Chu fades the flush draw and takes down the pot and the title. He is surrounded by his spectators and gets on his cell phone to pass along the news. He wins $585,774 and a gold Wsop bracelet. Second place finisher Tommy Vu takes home $364,761 for his efforts.
Amir Vahedi, the former chip leader, got crushed when he called a player's all-in with Qs, and overpair on the flop, vs a flush and straight draw, the turn gave Amir a set but his opponent was now open-ended, the river was an 8, completing the straight and crippling Amir, he would go out two hands later. Amir finished in 7th place.
The other pro at the table, Michael Gracz, was next to go out in 6th place...
Michael Gracz moves all in for his last $200,000 with Q6 and is called by Tommy Vu with KK. The board comes A103A6, Gracz cannot beat Vu, and is eliminated in 6th place for $84,858.
Event 9: $1,500 Omaha H/L: Alexander Kravchenko
Devonshire was all in on every hand he decided to play by this point and he shoved all his chips into the middle on a board of Q Q 4 4. He then flipped over A A 8 5. Kravchenko showed A 10 9 4 though, and the 8 on the river was no help. Devonshire finished in second place, and took home $140,336. Kravchenko won the gold bracelet for the $1,500 Omaha High-Low 8/OB event and $228,446.
Event 10: $2,000 NL Hold 'em Final Table
Here are the chip counts heading into today's final table...
1 Justin Bonomo 2,036,000
2 Hunter Frey 852,000
3 Michael Banducci 717,000
4 Stanley Weiss 609,000
5 William Durkee V 486,000
6 Todd Terry 473,000
7 Gil George 356,000
8 Walter Browne 302,000
9 Ronnie Hofman 297,000
Event 11: Seven Card Stud World Championship - Phil Ivey Goes for #6
There are two headlines going into the final table of the 7 stud world championship event. Marco Traniello makes another final table at this WSOP, he failed in his last attempt, so he will try again to win a bracelet today in the SCSWC. The other headline is Phil Ivey, and while Chan, Brunson, and Hellmuth race to win #11, Ivey is quickly catching up to them as he attempts today to win his sixth bracelet. Phil is 2nd in chips with 322,000, but has alot of work to do to catch our big chip leader, with 609,000, David Oppenheim. Here is the final table of 8.
1 David Oppenheim 609,000
2 Phil Ivey 322,000
3 Pat Pezzin 234,000
4 Theo Jorgensen 229,000
5 Oriane Teysseire 195,000
6 Chris Reslock 141,000
7 Ted Lawson 90,000
8 Marco Traniello 30,000
Event 12: $1,500 NL Hold 'em Six Handed Update
63 players remain in this tournament, and the current POY leader, J.C. Tran, is the chip leader with 150,000 chips.
Other events underway today are a $1,500 Seven Card Stud event and the $5,000 PL Hold 'em World Championship event.

Awesome updates.
Crazy about Brodie. I had him in a lot of my FTP fantasy league. Now I guess since he's allowed in, I'll throw him in some more.

Thanks a lot for all the news about WSOP . I just read through all the post now because I was away.
The new card seem to be interesting. I think the design is a little bit strange. But they are probably good for the purpose they were made for. Small tilted corner numbers should be good for players (but it seems that they are not) and the big letters for other people. It might be interesting to try to make a fan with them.

June 9th (Day 9)
Well, if you do like those new cards, unlike the poker pros, you can buy some Bicycle Pros online, they are a bit different and they are Bicycle cards and not the kem plastic cards, rather, they are made of a "custom casino cotton-paper blend." More info can be found at www.bicycleprocards.com
And now, final table results from yesterday.
Event 11: $5,000 Seven Card Stud World Championship: Chris Reslock Defeats Phil Ivey for the Title
On the final hand, the players get all their chips in going to the river card. After Reslock showed a board of K-J-10-10-10-4-2, Ivey had a board of Q-9-8-8-7-7, but mucked his final card, which gave Chris Reslock the victory and the title of 2007 Seven Card stud World Champion. This must be disappointing for Ivey as once again he is denied a bracelet. If you remember, he finished 2nd to Sam Farha in the '06 Omaha H/L event, and he failed to win the $50k HORSE title that year.
Event 10: $2,000 NLHE: William Durkee V Wins the Bracelet
On a board of 10 9 8 Q Todd Terry moves all in and William Durkee makes the call. Terry flips over AQ for top pair, top kicker. That was the good news, the bad news was that Durkee turns over the J for a queen high straight. To add insult to injury, the Q was dealt on the river. Terry is eliminated in second place, and he will take home $353,875. That makes Durkee the champion of the $2,000 no-limit hold'em event. He takes home the gold bracelet and $566,916.
Here is a look at all of the other events happening today.
Event 12: $1,500 NL Hold 'em Six Handed: Final Table Chip Counts
1 Jason Warner 945,000
2 David Zeitlin 899,000
3 Brian Miller 831,000
4 David Mitchell Lolis 736,000
5 Steve Olek 484,000
6 Matt Brady 381,000
Event 13: PL Hold 'em World Championship: 51 Remain
I am unsure of this, but Greg Mueller was listed as the chip leader going into today, they should play down to the final table tonight.
Event 14: Seven Card Stud: 155 Remain
The start of day 2 for this event was delayed because of the high number of players remaining in this tournament. Papa Levy is the leader at 29,400. The highest notable currently is Josh Arieh at 20,000.
These are the events that are getting under way today...
Event 15: $1,500 NL Hold 'em (Noon PT)
Event 16: $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. (5:00 PT)
7:16 P.M.: A Reminder of a Huge Day on Sunday
Tomorrow is going to be a big day for the WSOP as two world championship events will kick off.
Event 17: $1,000 Ladies NLHE World Championship (Noon PT)
Event 18: $5,000 Limit Hold 'em World Championship (5:00 PT)
10:51 P.M.: FINAL UPDATE
David Zeitlin and Jason Warner are about to go heads-up in the $1,500 NLHE Six Handed event. Heads up chip counts are currently unknown.
In the PLHE World Championship, 21 players remain with Allen Cunningham leading everyone with 435,000. Other notables left, in order of chip count, are Jason Lester, Gavin Griffin, Scott Fischman, Chris Ferguson, Joe Sebok, Jeff Lisandro, and Humberto Brenes. Can Allen Cunningham do what few have done before? He has a shot to win a WSOP bracelet in three consecutive years.
After one full round of the $2,500 HORSE event, Scotty Nguyen is your leader with 9,000 chips, though it is very early in this tournament, and alot of big names are in this field, so it won't be easy for someone like Scotty to make this final table.

June 10th (Day 10)
Million Dollar Ice Cream Cone FOR SALE!
Bruster's Real Ice Cream has revealed a $1 million ice cream cone in Las Vegas.
But would anyone eat it?
Designed by Lazare Kaplan, the cone mimics the look of Bruster's cherry vanilla ice cream, but this one isn't edible: the jeweled cone is almost 20 troy ounces of 18k white and yellow gold, with 548 round diamonds, 87 square emerald cut diamonds, and a 5.63 carat radiant cut diamond.
Total weight is 152.16 carats, and if you purchase it, you can write it off on your taxes -- all proceeds benefit the Big Borthers Big Sisters of America.
YUM!
And now, here are yesterday's final table results.
Event 12: $1,500 NL Hold 'em Six Handed: Jason Warner
With David Zeitlin down to his last $600,000 he moved all in preflop with Q4 and Warner called with A8. Warner made the best hand and won the pot and the tournament. Zeitlin’s second place finish earned him $269,778. Warner takes home the money, the bracelet and bragging rights over Canadian second place finishers Gavin Smith and Greg Mueller.
Earlier, Werner was crippled when, on a flop of QQJ, Jason Warner leads with 7-7 and David Zeitlin moves all in with Q9 and Warner makes the call. The next two cards brick out and Warner was left with very few chips, but would come back to win the event.
Event 14: $1,500 Seven Card Stud: Michael Keiner Wins During a Marathon Day
155 players played all the way down to one in just one day yesterday as Michael Keiner survived to win the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event, which saw the return of two bracelet winners in 2004, including the world champ himself.
Winning $19,680, Greg Raymer made it to the final table, only to go out in 6th place. This may seem impressive to alot of people because we know Raymer as the aggressive NL Hold 'em champion from 2004, looks like his skills at other games has improved.
Winning $33,698, Barry Greenstein also survived the marathon day to finish in 4th place at this final table. He won a bracelet in 2004 in the deuce-to-seven draw event.
Now, here is a look at today's final table.
Event 13: $5,000 PL Hold 'em World Championship: A Stacked Final Table
This is by far the most notables we've had at a WSOP final table so far in 2007, but, that doesn't mean one of the notables will win the bracelet, but they have a good chance, as 5 of the 9 players at the final table are indeed notable pros. One, as I mentioned yesterday, can accomplish something big by winning a bracelet in three straight years, that player is Allen Cunningham. Can he do it? We'll find out today.
1 Jeffrey Lisandro 982,000
2 Joe Patrick 631,000
3 Travis Rice 544,000
4 Gavin Griffin 524,000
5 Allen Cunningham 346,000
6 Jason Lester 295,000
7 Alan Jaffray 254,000 (NO: This is NOT Alan Jaffray Shulman)
8 Humberto Brenes 225,000
9 Keith Lehr 182,000
DID I FORGET ABOUT THE MOST AMAZING STORY OF THIS FINAL TABLE? JASON LESTER IS THE DEFENDING CHAMPION OF THIS EVENT.
What an accomplishment this is for Lester, but to win two years straight would be even more impressive.
And here are the other events happening today.
Event 15: NL Hold 'em: 122 Left: Hellmuth Making Another Run at #11!
After breaking his own cash record a few days ago, Phil Hellmuth cashes again in a WSOP tournament, making a serious run for his eleventh bracelet. He currently sits in 7th place with 116,000 chips. Can he do it this time? Probably not, but we'll see how deep he gets before imploding. Jason Beasley leads everyone with 184,200.
Event 16: $2,500 HORSE: 184 Remain
Just more than half of the original field of 382 are out in the first HORSE event of the series. Thayer Rasmussen leads everyone with 25,325. Notables currently in the top 20 include Steve Zolotow, Layne Flack, Cyndy Violette, Stud World Champion Chris Reslock, David Williams, John Gale, and Mark Vos. Play resumes later today.
Here are the two huge events kicking off today.
$1,000 Ladies NLHE World Championship
$5,000 Limit Hold 'em World Championship
Another busy day today at the Rio, and I will keep you all updated throughout today.
8:39 P.M.: PLHEWC Update
Here is the latest chip counts at the PL Hold 'em Championship table...
Jeff Lisandro: 1,320,000
Joe Patrick: 645,000
Humberto Brenes: 495,000
Allen Cunningham: 480,000
Jason Lester: 410,000
Travis Rice: 340,000
Gavin Griffin: 290,000
Keith Lehr: OUT (8th)
Alan Jaffray: OUT (9th)
8:54 P.M.: Gavin Griffin Eliminated
Gavin Griffin has just been knocked out of the PLHEWC event by Jeff Lisandro.
9:24 P.M.: Travis Rice KO'd by Allen Cunningham
That means that 5 players remain, and Cunningham is close to catching Lisandro for the chip lead. And incredibly, Lester, the defending champ, is hanging in there.
And I have just been told that Allen has a chance to win a WSOP bracelet in FOUR consecutive years, I must have missed when Allen won one in 2004. EDIT: After research it turns out I was right and that it's three consecutive.
9:57 P.M.: Lisandro's Double KO & Lester is Out
Three players get all-in before the flop, Jason Lester, then Joe Patrick, Jeff Lisandro came in having both of them covered. The hands...
Lisandro: Q Q
Lester: A K
Patrick: 7 7
The queens held up after the river card and he knocked both Lester and Patrick out and he retakes the chip lead (Cunningham had it at the start of that hand) and we are now down to three, Lisandro, Cunningham, and Brenes, what a final three indeed.
Sadly, this is my final update, but I wil be back tomorrow evening to reveal the winner of this all-star final table.
CHIP COUNT
Jeff Lisandro: 1,995,000
Allen Cunningham: 1,660,000
Humberto Brenes: 325,000
The storylines...
Jeff Lisandro: A world class high-stakes poker player looking for his first WSOP bracelet, now that he has the chip lead again, can he hold off two accomplished pros to take #1?
Allen Cunningham: Without doubt the hottest player at the WSOP the last 5 years, having won a bracelet in 2005 and 2006, and player of the year honors in 2005, and making it to the 2006 main event final table, winning here would be just a great accomplishment for Cunningham.
Humberto Brenes: His second final table at the series this year, Humberto failed to capture the bracelet the first time at the PL Omaha final table, he has a shot to do it tonight, though he is a longshot right now with only 325,000, do not count out Humberto and the "CHARK!"
10:21 P.M.: FINAL UPDATE Humberto Brenes Finishes 3rd
Short stacked, Humberto gets all the chips in against Allen Cunningham. Brenes held 10-9, Cunningham Q-?. A Q came on the flop, but Brenes flopped a gutshot straight draw, however, he missed it and is eliminated in 3rd place.
And now, Jeff Lisandro and Allen Cunningham will go heads-up for the PL Hold 'em World Championship. I will have the results of this match tomorrow.
CHIP COUNT
Allen Cunningham: 2,155,000
Jeff Lisandro: 1,825,000
Players are going on a dinner break until 9:00 local time.

June 11th (Day 11)
I cannot believe more than a week of the WSOP has already gone by, but we're already into day #11. And it took only 10 days to crown the first poker pro bracelet winner of 2007, and we could witness history today as well! Here are all of the details.
Event 13: PL Hold 'em World Championship: Allen Cunningham Wins Three in Three Years and Fifth Overall
HOW DOES HE DO IT???
That is what everyone, I'm sure, including myself, is asking themselves right now because Allen Cunningham has done something no one else may ever do again, win three bracelets in three consecutive years in the Rio era of the WSOP.
Event 15: $1,500 NL Hold 'em: Phil Hellmuth Goes for Eleven!
Yes, Phil Hellmuth has made the final table of this event and has a strong chance of winning #11 as he currently sits with over 1.4 million chips in second place. Can he do it? We'll find out today as the field narrows from 10 to the one survivor.

FINAL UPDATE: I'm Taking a Long Break
A quick update on the NLHE final table there are 7 players left and Hellmuth is still in the hunt for the bracelet.
Yes, I am taking a long break. How long? I don't know, but I'm just full blown steaming right now because I've been playing nickle and dime NL hold 'em today on FTP (I shouldn't anymore after what happened tome today) but after a killer session where I made a $11 profit, I just gave $9 of it back in one of the most disgusting sessions I've ever witnessed. Sure I had aces once, and it won, but everything else was just a disaster. I had Kings a couple of times today, never won with them. When I made big hands, small pots, or I would lose big pots. I was down about $5 when I decided to take a break. Then, later this evening, I came back to try again but would lose alot more in sick sick fashion.
First hand I had pocket jacks, I flopped a set with an A on board and my opponent lead for the cap (this was $3 cap) I called of course, he had AQ and hit running K 10 for the straight. A few hands later, I had pocket fours, four handed we all checked the flop and a four hit on the turn, I bet the same guy called and a deuce fell, harmless card, right? He though lead for the cap and I had to call and he turned up 5 6 for a rivered straight. It was at that point that I had to just walk, steaming, I must go cool down for awhile before I can come back to that website.
I may stop by here periodically to post a couple of updates, but I think online poker at FTP for me is out of the question right now. It's so unreal how todays session went for me.
