If they gave 'em away, people would probably smuggle them into tthe casino to add to their pot. In this case however, the casino is going outta buisness so I don't see why they don't sell em or something. I WANT THEM!!!!

The article talks about the chips still being worth their amount if they were ever returned to the casino.
I guess destroying them was the only way to make sure those people that are still in possession of the original chips could stil cash them in an claim their winnings.
