Well the sites I've visited so far suggest customization of pens with a center of gravity at the middle and balanced on both sides, etc..
I use any pen I have on hand that I use to write notes with in class, so I think that's a good start. Just pick up a pen and try and see if you can control it a bit..
But if anyone wants to do those more extreme tricks like multiple spins in so many seconds and not just the Sonic and thumb twirls, then the customized pens might start sounding a lot more intriguing..

A lot of mods (customized pens) are made from pens with a clear body this way you can design your own inlay, for the pen with your home computer You can also print the cog on that inlay so you don't have to mark that extra.

Hey Asperitas do you know some sites that describe how to do this? You seem to be more of a pen spinning guy than I am. I see you described it here http://www.21ace.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6448 but I am still pretty confused.
Right now I'm finding that Atlantis makes good pens for penspinning, specifically the ones with the cap. They have a nice weight to them and I find doing the basic pen tricks a lot easier with that specific pen. I have one in every binder at school

I found a list of links in another forum I don't have the time to read through all the sites right now, but it looks like it's a pretty complete list of english PS-sites (LOL one of the Links:"about injuries that may occur while or as a result of spinning")
You should find everything there.

For Europeans EuRaPen http://eurapen.free.fr/
For Infos:
http://www.psconclave.com/wiki/Main_Page !!!Warning!!!: some datas aren't right
If you have questions ... add me at MSN or ICQ or just ask here I think I will visit this forum once each day
Pen in America: RSVP MX -> Take an RSVP from Pentel and an Hybrid Gel Grip from Pentel.
Remove the grip of the Hgg and of the RSVP.
Take off the Tip of the RSVP.
Out the grip of the RSVP in its cap.
Put the cap on the backside of the RSVP until the backcap is in the big cap.
Put the HGG Grip on the place the RSVP's was.
Put the Tip on the top of the RSVP.
Ready!
I hope you understand ... otherwise I will try to make something with pictures

Not really "custom"
You buy pens and use parts from another pen like caps to make it longer/better momentum for harder tricks. That's basically a "modified pen"
Some people say it's cheating... No it's not...please understand. I can do most tricks with any stick object, fyi.
It's from practice, not the pen. Do you know that jugglers use juggling balls when they juggle? Yes they do. But can they do it with other objects like tennis balls? Yes they can. But they use special balls to perform advance tricks smoother and easier.
Other manipulations or sports are also mostly based from modified objects... so, go get a pen. Thanks.
