I was wondering how the world series was set up on the first day like chip amount, blinds and all that, because I'm just trying to tweak my home game set up a little, we start with $10,000 in chips and blinds go up every half hour starting at 10-20

At the WSOP, it depends on what event it is, but if you are referring to the main event of the WSOP, each player there starts with $10,000 in tournament chips. Usually the setup is 8 Green/Gold 25 chips, 8 Black/White 100 chips, 6 Pink/Black 500 chips and 6 Yellow/Black 1000 chips. The stacks are set up that way because of the number of players in the field. The blinds start off at 25-50 and increase every two hours (which I personally think is a bit too much) with a 15 minute break after each level and there is one dinner break in the middle of each day.

At my home game we play amore turbo style but we have more chips to start 'cause on average we only have 4 players at one game. Each player starts with 15,000 chips with blinds at 100-200 and the blinds increase every 10 minutes, this is to get the game over in just a couple hours.

With your structure, 10,000 starting chips, blinds at 10-20, and blinds increasing every 30 minutes, it seems like your games would last for a long time. Two things I would reccomend are that you should start the blinds at a higher level, like 25-50, and I think the blinds should increase sooner, unless, you do aim for a long home game.

well the last game took around 4-5 hours and it would be nice for it to be a little shorter so ill just start the blinds higher so they will increase more with the 30 min intervals

The main even blind levels for 2006 were....

1 25 50
2 50 100
3 100 200
4 100 200 25
5 150 300 25
6 200 400 50
7 250 500 50
8 300 600 75
9 400 800 100
10 500 1,000 200
11 600 1,200 200
12 800 1,600 200
13 1,000 2,000 300
14 1,200 2,400 300
15 1,500 3,000 400
16 2,000 4,000 500
17 2,500 5,000 500
18 3,000 6,000 1,000
19 4,000 8,000 1,000
20 5,000 10,000 1,000
21 6,000 12,000 2,000
22 8,000 16,000 2,000

Two hour blind level.

You'd be better off having 20 minute blind levels in my opinion.

Also, I'm pretty sure the starting stacks are 12x$25, 7x$100, 2x$500, 3x$1,000, and 1x$5,000.

Since you're only playing with 10 players, could prolly just use 8X$25, 8X$100, 8X$500 & 5x$1000

You sure? I think this may have been the 2005 structure but it wasn't the 2006 structure because they didn't have a 5,000 chip at the beginning. I am pretty sure the stacks were 25x8, 100x8, 500x6, 1000x6.

That was 2005, (as per Home Poker Tourney). I just assumed 2006 starting stacks would be the same.

I know there was a thread about this here before. Razz

I found it weird that with 10,000 chips in 2005 they would give everyone a 5,000 chip to start. I bet it created alot of problems with chip stacks because you got that chip and then 5,000 in the other denoms. It was captured on TV too when at one time all Mark Seif had left was that 5,000 chip. Imagine trying to use that in the next pot you played.
