On the section named 'The Nuts' they showed several tricks....some we've discussed here and a few new ones.....it had Dutch Boyd, Evelyn Ng, and Antonio the magician doing tricks......seeing if each could do the tricks....i liked quite a few of them and am hoping that someone recorded this episode so we can break the tricks down and analyze them....i would love to do some of the tricks shown on the tables

Sounds like I have some new tricks to learn soon, sweet I hope that someone can get this recorded and e-mailed or something to people. Just let me know when it's ready to be sent out I might be able to help on the break downs.

it doesn't really matter the quality of the vid.......just as long as we get it
if you can get it from your vcr to your computer it would help quite a bit

I can't wait to see this video. I've seen Dutch Boyd and Antonio on old WPT episodes, it'll be good to see them in something new.

they aired that episode again and i was able re-record the "nuts" segment" so it has sound. I also was able to get the ram vaswani clip. file is 15megs for the nuts segment, 2megs for vaswani clip. I will contact admins about putting it up.

nman84 and TuTone,
Thanks again for getting the videos to me, there are some awesome tricks in that segment.
The anti-gravity trick by Antonio is cool. You can check it out on the Antonio Anti-Gravity Trick link.
Another nice trick in the segment is the Butterfly trick by Evelyn. You can check it out on the Evelyn Butterfly Trick link.
Finally, the Vaswani Bounce Vid is another nice trick.
I tried to document the verbiage during the intro, it goes something like this,

The world series is 33 tournaments long and
when you're playing 14 hours a day, every day for 5 weeks,
you start looking for ways to help pass the time.
Hence chip tricks, part amusement, part art form.
And few do it better than Antonio Esfandiari,
Dutch Boyd and Evelyn Ng.
They are to chip tricks what Monet is to Impressionism.
Behold their genius on this weeks nuts, chip tricks 101, a workshop. |

The "anti-gravity" trick is really called the "Muscle Pass."

The chip spread that Evelyn did looked cool, I think she spread the chips then did what look like a "flip card trick" but with chips, then just pushed the chips back together, i should be able to get another look at it, looks easy to learn but speed is going to be the hard part.

Actually, I believe she did it "backwards" to add some flash. She splayed out the chips, and then took a final chip and ran it the length of the spread for noise (in the way that wouldn't screw up the setup) and *then* picked up the chips from the bottom-facing chip as Wrenn suggested, in one quick motion.

Butterfly Trick |

Anyone have any clue how to perform that butterfly trick? I've tried to slow it up a bit to break it down but I'm clueless on that. Once again, I want to thank everyone. This site is awesome. I've perfected all the tricks that Eric has up and some of the other sweet tricks that you guys have posted.

I'm pretty sure the trick originated from a coin trick called The Split Roll-Out. But it looks as if the "butterfly trick" has a few things different (not completely sure) in it but you end up with the same results, if you watch Antonio I think he does "The Split Roll-Out".
I personally can’t begin to give a break down on this one I haven’t even tried it yet, but I think if you find a web site with the coin trick on it you can learn the steps from it.

Does anyone know how Antonio does the "gravity" or "muscle pass".
I figure he is throwing it normal, and just catching it before the arch, however, I dont know how he throws the chip without using his fingers.
He pinches it in his palm then lets it slip out and the pressure shoots it into the air?

That would be helpful, however I know nothing about coin magic and couldn't even answer the entrance question. Hahaha, very sad.

Yeah Bobo's Modern Coin Magic is a great place to start in coin magic. In fact its sitting next to my desk, and I use a lot of sleights from it.
