Johnny Chan and His Poker Chip Trick in RoundersThere is a scene in Rounders in which Matt Damon describes his play against Johnny Chan in a $300 - $600 holdem game at the Taj. The viewers get to see the scene as Matt Damon describes it. Early in the hand Johnny Chan does a nifty poker chip trick where he holds 3 chips above the rest of the stack and puts them back in reverse order.I broke down the trick frame by frame. Here is how I do it: 1. Hold 10 chips in hand with palm facing downward and writs facing up. 2. Position the chips such that they are held in the palm of the hand by the index, middle and ring fingers. 3. Spin the front 3 chips up with the thumb using the index finger as the pivot point. 4. Drop the first front chip down onto the front of the stack. 5. Drop the new front chip down onto the front of the stack. 6. Drop the last of the three chips down onto the front of the stack. 7. Repeat. The video helps to put things into perspective. I also have an mpg of Johnny Chan doing the trick but I don't want to put it on the site and risk copyright issues. However if you're interested in viewing the mpg with Johnny Chan himself doing the trick then send me an email. I recommend buying the Rounders DVD because it is alot easier to learn the trick when watching it on a large tv frame by frame. |
