Boxing Posters and Art PrintsCheck out these Boxing Posters and Art Prints showing Ali, Frazier, Tyson and many other fighters. It is difficult to talk about boxing without mentioning Muhammad Ali from Louisville, Kentucky. Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a 2001 film that showed the fighter in his prime. Directed by Michael Mann who also brought us The Insider and The Last of the Mohicans, we see Ali through Mann's eyes. One reason Ali stands out is that we remember him for more than just boxing. In the 1960s Americans were protesting the draft and racial inequality. Ali went against the system in stating his point of view and fighting for what he believed in. I was born in 1969 so I didn't get to see Ali's fights live but it was nice to learn more about them in the movie. Early in the movie we see the early parts of his heavyweight reign when he still goes by the name Cassius Clay. We see Cassius Clay getting ready to fight Sonny Liston for the first time for the heavyweight championship of the world. Mario Van Peebles plays Malcom X as we see Ali develop his relationship with the Nation of Islam. One key part of the movie is when Ali refuses to be a part of the draft. Throughout the film we see Ali interacting with Howard Cosell (played by Jon Voight). Even though the two used to kid each other a lot and trade shots, the movie shows their relationship on a deeper level as friends. The movie reveals where one of Ali's most famous quotes comes from. He is fighting Ernie Terrell (played by Alfred Cole) and he takes the fight personally (since Ernie Terrell called him Clay, not Ali). Instead of finishing Terrell off with a knockout punch, Ali toys with him and shouts "What's my name?" as he continues to hit his beaten opponent. Some of the best parts of the movie show Ali training in Zaire, Africa for his "Rumble in the Jungle" fight against George Foreman. In Zaire we see how the people loved Ali. He spent more time training in Zaire than Foreman did and we get to see the way the people reacted to him. We see artwork showing Ali taking on a tank (in reference to his refusing the draft). Foreman, on the other hand, could have done more to win fans over in the area. For one thing, Foreman brought his dogs with him, which is said to have offended many of the people in the area. I've heard commentators talk about how hard George Foreman used to hit the heavy bag. They say that when Ali was in the training area he would walk right by George hitting the heavy bag and not even glance at him. Butterbean Boxing PosterScroll through the boxing posters on the right to find a Butterbean boxing poster. One of the most bizarre boxing matches I saw was on Jackass. Johnny Knoxville fought against Eric (Butterbean) Esch in a mall boxing match. Well, really I should say that Butterbean was boxing and Johnny Knoxville was getting hit. The boxing section at AllPosters has a boxing poster of Butterbean, it is Item #: 837136. I am tempted to buy that boxing poster to remind me of that episode. Johnny Knoxville didn't seem to know much about boxing but he does show a lot of guts. Then again there is a fine line between guts and stupidity, I guess that's why the show is called Jackass.Mike Tyson Boxing PosterScroll through the boxing posters on the right and you'll see Mike Tyson boxing posters. Mike Tyson has always had tremendous boxing skills. The problem is that his personal problems have sometimes overshadowed his boxing ability. Boxing was very exciting when Mike Tyson was a young boxer. He came up quickly and terrorized the heavyweight division for years. I remember going to bars and clubs and just seeing highlights of his knockouts. He was shorter than other heavyweights but he was big and quick. His boxing style was to come quickly using the jab and then at some point he would get leverage under the taller man and lay the final blow. Regardless of how you feel about Mike Tyson as a human being, it is hard to argue that he took boxing to a new level. He was one of the best boxers I have ever seen in my life.Evander Holyfield Boxing PosterScroll through the boxing posters on the right and you'll see Evander Holyfield posters. In late July 2005 Holyfield was in the media frequently because he wanted to continue fighting. Not wanting to get another black eye, boxing wanted him to stop because of his age and the long term damage that was being risked. Holyfield argued that he had a clean bill of health. If I get an Evander Holyfield boxing poster it will be because he was the one guy who could beat Tyson consistently. Yes, Bustar Douglas beat Tyson but that was a one-time thing. Holyfield was more consistent. I like the item number 837139 boxing poster of Holyfield.Lennox Lewis Boxing PosterLennox Lewis posters can be found by going through the boxing posters selection on this page. The item number 837140 boxing poster of his is a good one. British fans loved him when he was the heavyweight champ. I was never crazy about him. I think he retired when he still had some good boxing left in him but maybe it was a decision related to his health.Roberto Duran Boxing PosterPick out the Roberto Duran boxing poster on this page by going through the boxing poster selections. If you don't see it the item number is 837135. Roberto Duran was a great fighter who had an impressive career. He may have stayed in boxing too long though, everyone remembers the fight when he said "no mas" which in English means no more.Oscar De La Hoya Boxing PosterThere are several nice boxing posters of Oscar De La Hoya. They can be found by scrolling through the prints on this page. Growing up in East Los Angeles and trainging in Big Bear, Oscar De La Hoya has strong ties to Southern California. The odd thing about Oscar De La Hoya was that his strong hand was his jab. In other words it would be like a right handed fighter who chooses to fight south paw. His jab was among the best I've seen in boxing. He could literally break a man's nose by hitting it so fast that you hardly even see it. One of my favorite Oscar De La Hoya boxing posters is item number 343528.Jack Dempsey Boxing PosterThere are several nice boxing posters of Jack Dempsey. They can be found by scrolling through the boxing poster selections in this section. The item number 320865 boxing poster of Dempsey looks especially good. He is from before my time but the boxing world loves him. I've never seen so many boxing posters from someone who fought so long ago.Don King Boxing PosterAlthough he is known as a promoter, not as a boxer, Don King shaped boxing in many ways. He was always a character and he always had something to say. His hair had a unique look to it. The 1024597 poster of him is a nice one.Rocky Boxing PosterWhen we used to play boxing on Nintendo, Rocky Marciano was one of my favorite choices. He had an upper cut that was tremendous. Rocky Balboa did well in the box office. This section here has a nice Rocky boxing poster, it is item number 153070. |
