Martinis Information

Some people have a strong preference for the type of vodka used in their martini. Some well know brands are Ketel One, Belvy, G. Goose and Sky Vodka.

Ketel One is one of my favorite brands of vodka. Ketel is hand-made at the Nolet Distillery in Holland which was founded in 1691. The Ketel label does a good job in describing how good this unique brand of vodka is. "Ketel One is the 'Specialty' in the world of vodkas...In a class by itself.
For 10 generations, the Nolet family in Holland has been distilling the finest handmade spirits, using the same technique and recipes perfected by Joannes Nolet in 1691. Ketel One Vodka is handcrafted in small batches. Named after the original distilling kettle number one, this vodka is truly unique. Ketel One is distilled using traditional potstills, filtered through charcoal and rested underground in tie-lined tanks until perfect. This costly, painstaking process yields a limited quantity of vodka that possesses a refined elegance and unmatched clarity and smoothness."

The Ketel legacy is impressive moving from father to son in Schiedam, Holland since 1691.

Favorite Martinis-Apple Marinis and Sour Apple Martinis
I like the sour apple martini a great deal. Some bars just call it an apple martini. It is also one of the best looking martini prints in my opinion. Maybe it is the combination of the martini glass with the green liquid, there is something cool about it. One of the reasons I like apple martinis is because they taste good and are generally not quite as strong as some of the other martinis. I've seen it made as follows:
1 part Vodka
1 part Sour Apple pucker schnapps
1 part Apple juice
Having a slice of an apple is a nice touch. In my opinion the one part apple juice is optional.

It can also be made as follows:
1 part vodka
1 part sour apple schnapps
1 splash sweet and sour mix

Technically there is a difference between an apple martini and a sour apple martini but some bars make them the same way. Some of the bars use ginger ale in the sour apple martin, some don't. Here are other methods for making them:
Apple Martini
2 part Vodka
1 part Apple Schnapps
Splash of Lime Juice
Sour Apple Martini
2 part Vodka
1 part Apple Schnapps
1 part ginger ale
Splash of Lime Juice

One consistent theme is to put the lime juice in the sour apple martini; it may or may not go in the plain apple martini. One of my favorite vodkas for apple martinis is Ketel One.
